For anyone who's been paying attention my activity on the site over the past few months has been slim to none. I've been meaning to do this for awhile now so this will be my farewell and my announcement of "retirement". I've been an active member of this site for years now with over 1,000 posts, honestly I never thought I'd make 100 posts. I'm not going to ramble on and right an essay, there are just a few things I want to say. There have been so many people along the way that have helped me:
Nutt - who's been a great friend, contributed to many projects and has been with me since day one.
Makinith29 - the YouTube legend
EFox - another good friend who has been with me from the start
KevinDV, EVI, BxBugs123, Voodoobie, Tim98 (or whatever he calls himself today) for all of the parts and support they have provided along the way.
Raptor422 and Strikeeagle345 - I was able to form great friendships with these guys and have a successful YouTube LCPD:FR patrol series.
Also a huge thank you to Sam and the developers of LCPD:FR, without you there wouldn't be any reason for all the great mods we make.
Anyone who has ever BETA tested for me - the mods weren't possible without you guys.
Anyone else I forgot, don't feel bad if I forgot your name, I just have trouble remembering everyone.
It all started with an unlocked CVPI, EVI's wheel pack, Code 3 XT6's and a Whelen Justice... I did it simply because I wanted 1 car, a slicktop unmarked CVPI with hubcaps. (link to my first model for anyone interested ?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>)'>?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>) I never intended to even release that or make any more cars than that but with almost 35 released files totaling 40,000 downloads on this site alone, I couldn't have asked for anything more. None of which would have been possible without you guys, the community.
Honestly I have no interest in modeling anymore, I haven't touched any projects in months and even in my free time I don't enjoy it like I use to. With work and the fact that what use to be a virtual law enforcement career is on its way to becoming a real life one I feel its time to part ways so I can focus fully on that, as I've been doing for awhile now. I had some great times on this forum and in this community as a whole and once again I thank everyone for that. GTA V has been in the back of my mind and while there is a chance I may come back and release content for that, well I wouldn't hold your breath. I will still lurk in the shadows as I've been doing and may occasionally posts here and there but for the most part this will conclude my time here.
THANK YOU and I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday and new year.

I'm not sure what its like for that particular vehicle since I've never used it but most of the time the glass is mapped to a texture called "emerglights". The photo below is what it looks like. I've highlighted the 2 areas that the glass is *usually* mapped to. One in red and one in yellow. The pod positions on the texture usually correspond to the pods on the truck, this will be trial and error of course so you'll have to figure that out. You export that texture with OpenIv or Spark and open it in photoshop. Erase the color of the pod and fill it in with your desired color but make sure you lower the opacity - otherwise the color will be solid in game and you won't see the ELS lights flash. The amount of opacity is another thing you'll have to play around with, trial and error. **If you edit this and it doesn't work then chances are its mapped to another texture within the WTD, just look for a texture that contains something similar to what I highlighted** Or feel free to post the textures you think it might be in this thread and someone can probably point it out. Hope this helps

I'm guessing it's the placement of extras. The textures aren't the issue. When I start the car up, I can see the Avengers in the rear-window perfectly fine (textures are there). But once the engine is started, they light up like a takedown.
I DID export the avengers from the Whelen Avenger Dev pack. Except I have NO idea if I did it properly.... I have never been taught/nor found any useful tutorials on how to do so. So that could also, possibly be my problem?
Lack of experience is always an issue - it was for all of us when we started. Anyway, yes the textures are the issue (well part of it) because if the textures were setup properly they would steady burn the colors that they are mapped to in ZModeler which appears to be red/blue but in game they are white - that indicates a textures problem. The "extras" are the ELS lights and they use textures just like everything else. They aren't referring to the Avenger module itself having a texture issue but rather the emissive light. As someone else stated the "steady burn" stems from incorrectly setup and arranged extras.
Also I know you didn't mention this but from what I can see of your hierarchy you need to clean that up quite a bit and attach all your accessories and lighting equipment together

You should just be able to import a blank texture in the place of the ALPR texture in the WTD. Not a white one, a blank/invisible one
-
what about resizing the model wouldn't that help?
Sure but then its going to look like your driving a monster truck compared to other cars in GTA. I've seen it already with cars that have been given to me straight out of a conversion or a build. Put them in GTA and you can immediately tell they are to large and trust me it doesn't look good at all

I use to make a lot of online patrol videos with 2 other guys. They would record it, edit, and upload it to YouTube and like others have said editing is the answer. Just like offline play though sometimes you can go for a very long time without crashing. At times I can get a 30-40 minute offline session crash free and same way with online. It helps if you don't use many mods and that the mods you are running are consistent across all players.

Nice Job!

If you have it post the graphic thats on the doors. If the creator has that graphic thats a skin that can be made in about 20 minutes. Also you don't really want to take skins from other cars and tweak/rotate/skew because it just distorts the overall quality leading to a blurry skin in game. Always make new skins for each car - thats just my advice
-
Great idea and a very complete form. One question though, this confused me but maybe I'm just missing something. First page of the form under "TRIM", what do those options correspond to? Interesting idea to by the way
-
Probably to high of graphic settings for your PC to handle and its lagging. Try turning down the graphics little by little until you get to a setting that works well for you

I mainly use my own skins or skins people have made for me. They are usually a mixture of police, sheriff, and state patrol skins. As for my vehicles those are all ones that I've made. 2 2013 Taurus's, Caprice, CVPI, and a Explorer

Tom - I knew you almost from the beginning when I joined the site.I think I met you shortly after I released my first model. We talked about a lot of stuff over PM's and agreed on a lot of topics. Just as I agree with some of the things you mentioned above. Farewell and good luck with everything

sorry but what in the world does that have to do with the topic? or his quote?
I was wondering the same thing when I read it - I had to double check to make sure I was reading in the correct thread. Anyway nice job! I don't know off brand bars at all, especially Canadian ones, not that the country of manufacturing has anything to do with knowing or not knowing off brand lightbars

hmm, its like the Mounting Bracket says Warning more than a Company name. I also noticed that the alley lights are one circle and not 3 circles like Whelen's
Exactly, I've searched all the major off brand places with no luck, as well as a general google image search. Its like a mix of everything, Code 3 feet, Whelen liberty looks, and Federal Signal style modules. OP I'm sorry - I've looked everywhere and can't come up with anything
-
I'm retracting my thoughts of it possibly being the Elite. Look below, the Elite lenses meet in the middle. OP's photo the glass meets on either side of the takedowns similair to a lot of Code 3 bars (x2100, x2700, etc) 3 lens pieces total, the Elite only having 2

And the mounting brackets dont say Whelen either - here is MUCH better photo's - click for full res

-
Its like a "Franken-bar" - Old style Code 3 feet, Whelen mounting arms, and a off brand lightbar. I've checked the better known "off brand" sites with no luck. Could it be the Century with some different module options? I suppose but the feet throw me off. Why use Code 3 feet on a bar that would come with Whelen feet? Since it appears to have Code 3 feet it could possibly be a older Code 3 product but I'm not sure.
-
Ah ok, I am thinking it is a Whelen because the foot bar thing is kind of red and it looks like it says Whelen, but don't listen to me, I don't know much lol
Your right - it does appear to say Whelen but I"m thinking that they recyled the mounting bracket from a Whelen bar and just used it on this one
OP - is there any higher res photos?
-
I don't think its a Century elite and here's why. The Elite runs 2 forward facing modules plus a corner, the pictured bar runs 3 forward facing and a corner on each respective side plus the 2 take downs in the middle section. The feet are Code 3 style but it doesn't look like a code 3 bar to me. It seems like one of those off brand companies which I'm not that familiar with. I'll do a little looking and report back if I find anything if someone doesn't beat me to it
Star Laser - I don't think so...The glass on the top of OPs photo is clear - the laser has Tomar Blade style top

-
Look in the tutorials section of the site, they go over a lot of this stuff in there. If you want the models you need Zmodeler and hours and hours worth of learning/trial and error until you learn how to use it. There is no "easy" way to do it. You'll also need the models, the CVPI is available but thats about it. No Taurus or Explorer exist unlocked. Not only will you need the base car models but the lights and parts to go along with them. There is no unlocked Tomar Blade available. Most of the other parts are available though. The skins can just be made with photoshop. There is already a Fairfax county CVPI released in the downloads.... I'm not trying to discourage you from doing it but your going to have a hard time finding a lot of what you would need to complete this - not to mention the time spent just learning how to use Zmodeler properly
-
No clue about the skin, I usually make/use my own skins so I have no idea where to find it. If you know for sure its EVI's see if he has any newer Chargers released that may have that skin included with the WFT. You may have to go on a bit of a hunt or someone may have it and send it to you

Actually the one he posted the photo of is Cj24's Ohio State Charger, I don't know if any links still exist for it though. I did however make my own version which is very similar and it still is available for download. The red/blue lightbar version is the link that Rainbow posted and the all blue Ohio State Trooper setup is this one: http://gtapolicemods.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2343 There is a difference between the two, the one on GTA-4Mods can run either a red/blue setup or a all blue setup and has the TA in the rear of the lightbar. The Ohio State version however is setup to strictly run all blue.
