A compilation of lore friendly images from the Los Santos County Sheriff Department - based off the LASD - the county sheriff department for the entirety of LA county. The LSSD - identical to its real life counterpart - is responsible for countywide general law enforcement services to unincorporated areas and cities which contract with the sheriff's department for law enforcement services, serving all county courts by executing warrants and court orders and protecting courthouses (in addition to courtroom security) and running the county jail - including transporting prisoners to and from court and medical appointments. The agency is also responsible for protecting most county property, high-ranking county personnel and for coordinating countywide taskforces and operations. The LSSD maintains numerous special divisions such as the special enforcement bureau - including SWAT, K9 and rapid intervention teams - volunteers on patrol division; responsible for dealing with community nuisances and county ordinances, a search and rescue division, marine unit, dirt bike patrol division, aviation component and detective bureau to name but a few. The agency currently employees approximately 10,000 sworn deputies and 11,000 unsworn staff. This makes the LASD only marginally smaller than the LAPD - earning it the title of the largest sheriff department in the world and the fourth largest local law enforcement agency in the United States.
At 11:02 an LSPD sergeant responded to a call of an armed store robbery in the Del Perro Suburban clothing branch. The sergeant issued commands for both of the suspects - armed with rifles - to exit the store and drop their weapons but both refused. The first suspect was consequently shot whilst attempting to open fire on the sergeant and died on scene. At approximately 11:05 a second LSPD unit arrived with two officers who subsequently opened fire on the second fleeing suspect who was also armed. The second suspect was transported to a local hospital by the LSFD but later succumbed to his injuries. All three officers were unharmed.
