Currently on toilet in school right now - I've had a theory - if it is true, like the Red Dead map mod, this could have happened as a result of making the GTA IV map mod.
Thoughts? This has been a tricky one.

Well, I'm f*cked.
Those nasty f*cks picked the wrong time to get rid of OpenIV. I'm right now in modding nirvana, it seems. I have two pages of mods that I ENJOY making, but the thing is, for some reason, my Windows 10 computer is unable to take screenshots in-game. I need to use OpenIV's WFT viewer for this, as you may find, so I can appease both the admins and the potential downloader.
Sure, OpenIV likes to mess up my vehshare and my resident.rpf, but the thing is, I'm only modding for GTA IV, and I'm like the most active modder there right now. Sure, there may be some legal loophole in GTA IV, and sure, GTA V was a pain in the arse to mod, but my contributions here have been a pillar of my involvement in the modding community.
The world's out to get me during these exam times, I'm sure of this. But this is the biggest blow to the GTA IV modding community since GTAPoliceMods shut down. I'm not updating my OpenIV out of fear, so I can't use that anymore. And SparkIV doesn't have a WFT viewer.
Nobody really knows how much it has affected my corner of mods. But let me tell you something - for keeping within site rules, it is REALLY BAD.

Nope. Screwed. Nobody wants to trawl through all THAT.

Its not nice having to come back to this thread. In fact, its quite sad having to come back to this thread in the first place.
I've come to realise that we may have been forgotten about, us remaining few in the GTA IV modding community. Sure, GTA V is a greater (if you will, I literally can't play it) game for police modding, with bigger, lively worlds, but us minorities have stuck around through it all, on the long modding haul - I started, personally, back in 2013. Since then, however, drama has erupted in the modding community - KevinDV had a hissy fit and deleted his mods...and then randomly disappeared, two popular British pretty much hate each other, and the legality and opinion of modding is getting antsy.
I could see why GTAPoliceMods would close down - as a site grows older, it becomes harder to maintain (didn't even work on mobile a few years back), but if less and less people come to the site, why bother maintaining and throwing the money into the memory hole? It is a similar reason why GTAGaming closed - maintenance. And most great sites may fall victim to this too.
However, we could have been warned. I never saw any mention of impending closure of the site, mostly because I didn't go to the forums. But suddenly, one day in February 2017, we were greeted with an 'account suspended' screen. No final words, no sayonaras, nothing but an error screen. And obviously, you know what this means - everything is lost. We can't get the mods we want or need anymore because the site closed. Such a tragedy, if you will, and a sign of things to come.
While I appreciate the circumstances, I do, however, wish it were not this way. Since I last saw the eternal doom, the site has changed - now, we are greeted with a '508 Resource Limit is Reached' error. And at the same time, HighSpeed-Gaming.com thought the fart was safe, and loudly sharted everywhere, and now it's down. So both sites, at the same time, have rather sequential errors. Are the servers still linked? Who knows - hopefully a form of backup there wasn't lost.
So, to the reason as to why I came back to this thread. Once again, I need to vent. I currently have a mod I'm about to release which cannot be used by anyone who didn't download the original car before the site closed. It is another Merit mod, and it makes me feel guilty that many may not be able to actually use the mod. I'll still put it up, though, in the hopes an alternative can be found.
The thing is, there probably won't be. I've got a bad feeling we've either been forgotten about, or we've had it witheld for reasons unknown. Either way, it makes me feel sad a little. At least, however, some are reuploading their mods here, however, we just need them all back. So here's what I think the site owners should do - open up the site to downloads only, and keeping the site frozen in time as it used to be before closure, like GTAGaming ended. I'm not pressuring in a way that there will be consequences, its just that we need the downloads back so the GTA IV modding community can survive for years to come.

I'm sure some of you who regularly visited the site (and still try to now) will know this, but it appears a serious problem involving URLs for download files has appeared - access is denied to the downloads, as it appears the download URLs are incompatible with the new site. I've found some fixes, which you can find in the links for my Ranger mods, however, these only work intermittently for different download pages. I'm hoping this will be resolved soon.

WRONG SECTION.
However, consult this:
Install this to wherever you put your car - the file location may have moved.

What a shame I have to do one of these again. But, thats how the world works, circle of life, circle of death, etc.
GTAGAMING, AND ALONGSIDE IT, GTA4MODS HAS CLOSED DOWN. It was coming, anyway. The move to GTA V modding, the aging and exodus of the site, and the hack all lead to it closing, But rest assured,
ALL GTAGAMING SITES HAVE ARCHIVES, AND THE ADMIN IS MAKING FINAL TWEAKS AND SEARCH BARS. This is the best news. Unlike the sh*tshow that was GTAPoliceMods, the last remaining admin, DarkValorous has teamed up with some people to archive the mods uploaded on GTAGaming, and work is being done to add search bars.
It will be sad to see it go, even though I learned I couldn't delete accounts until it was too late, and I wish DarkValorous the best in maintaining the archive.
RIP GTAGaming - 2002-2017 -15 years of hell never stopped us dreaming.

Oh great, yet another argument has broke out again.
Self-control doesn't work.

Were you at the concert last night?
Nope, don't go to concerts, but it was quite a punch in the gut, almost literally.
I was listening to Viking 2 on the way to school, just after I had taken out my headphones, and the presenter's kid asked the presenter that morning via text "Daddy, what's going on? I'm scared."
I think that ruined the whole day for me.

Wrong time of the year too - exam time. Supposed to be a reprive to some - in the end, it only hurt them more, some physically.
It rather did hit me hard, as it is in a critical part of my life. For the whole of yesterday, there was this weird feeling in my stomach - a feeling of sorrow, maybe, a feeling that I just couldn't do anything. And once again, the school frankly doesn't care.

One year on nearly from modding - time passes quickly, doesn't it?
Here's a hint at my latest mega project, due to be started tomorrow.

Jesus, guys, let's break it up.

Well, 25 years ago today, the National Guard were called in, and it was all over. But the effect on Los Angeles was very profound. The question that now strikes concern is this - what's next?

Did you use backups? If not, you're screwed.

THE LOS ANGELES RIOTS AT 25

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the first day of the Los Angeles Riots of 1992, sparked by the acquittal of LAPD officers who beat the now-deceased Rodney King in a case of police brutality that sparked riots, over 50 deaths, and an onslaught upon the less-wealthy sides of LA, especially Koreatown.
Before this all happened, however, the warring factions, the Bloods and the Crips, were brought together in a truce known as the 'Watts Truce'. This curbed major gang violence for a long time going, and although forgotten by many, the truce brought down gang violence majorly, even though it is no longer in effect today.
The violence and effects of the riots, however, will not be forgotten. The attack on Reginald Denny on the epicentre of Florence and Normandie, the 'forget the flashlight' beginning on 71st and Normandie, the abandonment of Koreatown by California government agencies, and the reforms to the LAPD and change in Angelino society following the riots.
These riots were a significant event, virtually, in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While I won't give any significant spoilers, it follows the acquittal of the C.R.A.S.H. unit of an unforgivable crime, which sparks riots in Los Santos for the last three missions of the game. Personally, I'm surprised there's no references to the riots in GTA V, but we can always throw molotovs at Lundy's Caprices, and call it a riot.
Lest we forget the riots. 25 years on, and we all the mistakes we had learned from seem to have been forgotten about in Ferguson and Baltimore. And with the Black Lives Matter movements doing the rounds across America, how long will it be until the next LA-style riot happens? And where?
I'll leave you with this.

You can edit the ELS file for individual cars (you have to edit the .ytd textures too) to make them blue only. I edited JJDawkins LSPD pack for all blue/amber. I can share my files if you want.
Oh yeah, forgot I could do that back then. Thing is, there's just not many good CVPI models out there now.

See, that's the problem. Wheelchair access, while something that we should not take for granted should we become cripples ourselves, unfortunately means the demise of the more utilitarian, famous means of transportation. Sadly, with the lack of the Crown Victoria, especially in the NYPD, New York doesn't look tough and cool anymore - it actually looks embarrasing. The same can be said for the death of the Checker cab.
The same goes for our Routemaster. In 2006, they were mostly taken off from London streets because of multiple aging issues, including the problem of disability and health and safety. Now that the NBFL has had it's doors locked for health and safety, too, and is also not being bought again, there's no point in bringing them back - health and safety, although a virtue, has gone mad, as they say.

In light of LSPDFR being reported in the Albuquerque news to get some readership, my concern has grown that sources such as the Hull Daily Mail, The Sun, and *cringe* the Daily Mail will go out and try to slander me for my so-called violence-promoting ways. As I'm currently in a situation where I can't possibly take such criticism, and where I fear that Double Doppler or some other British modders will eventually make the Daily Mail for 'promoting violence against police, I decided to make a statement in my 'About Me' section that will probably be removed in the coming months, or even quicker, should any police forces praise me for my work, like the Dutch have. So, in case the Daily Mail wants to skip my account, or in case you're just interested as to my opinion, here's my statement.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT TOWARDS THE POLICE AND THE MEDIA - HULLIAN111
Dear Humberside Police or Metropolitan Police individuals, the vehicles I make are IN NO WAY meant for usage as a way for underage kids to 'kill police officers' for fun, or even for 'training'. I support the police thoroughly and will make any effort to defend them in any circumstance, but I do not condone violence towards police officers. My work is more a hobby than actual work - I am an emergency vehicle enthusiast, and also a pro-police role-player in-game. The acts of individuals, however, who download my vehicle textures, are of their own accord, and cannot be preventable unless given extreme oversight of one's gameplay. And for me, that is impossible.
If you have somehow made your way here from the (Hull) Daily Mail, I recommend you learn about what LCPDFR.com really stands for. The majority of us who can run the mods 'LCPDFR' and 'LSPDFR' all support the police in their roleplay as police officers, and to be clear, THESE MODS DO NOT PROMOTE VIOLENCE TOWARDS THE POLICE.
If you wish to contact me about this, please do so in a private message. Should you ignore the basic facts and try to slander both me and/or the generous modding community, or if you are someone like Katie Hopkins or a Sun reporter, I will not speak to you. If you represent the Humberside or Metropolitan Police with the appropiate proof, and are concerned about what I am doing, I will try to explain to you what I am doing, and why I do it - for the community, and for my passion towards the police.
I've always liked the police, and I wish never to upset them.

Sounds like you want to make that Charger out of Bullitt.

As it stands, accounts that you have blocked will not display comments, but still will display mods. The issue is here that with recent fiascos and relative confusion, I really should be avoiding seeing those mods on the download page, which is why I suggest an overhaul on blocking, which gives you the (purely optional) option to block downloads showing up, aside the option of blocking comments. Just a way to avoid unnecessary flame wars, really.

Current update:
Today I found two mods that were archived under the Wayback Machine - the ELS Sultan and the ELS Huntley. I was so glad that the pages were archived, and hoped that like that RUC video I came across on the old RUC site, the mods were downloadable.
This, unfortunately, was not the case. Whoever decided to archive the pages on the 10th of November 2014 did not bother to archive the downloading page, sadly, leaving us only to view the description. But I think there's still hope, no matter what controversy arises, that someday, we'll get the mods back. Someday.

OpenIV discontinued | Take Two claims game modding "illegal"

It was the GTA IV map mod.
WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!
After the Red Dead one, this should have been shelved.
