  1. I'd not buy the SSD if you have to get a worse CPU. While SSD speeds up loading times, the overall performance won't be changed, and CPU is the second most important thing in the PC when it comes to performance.

Yeah, but he really has no use for a 6 core CPU as only very few games utilize all 6 cores. Your build it very solid too but I would throw in a SSD into your build. A kingston 120GB for 50. (I dunno how to do the symbol :) But i would invest in a better cpu cooler as the FX series can get pretty hot and if he wants he has the option to O.C.

  2.  Unfortunately no, so I would need a monitor, not an amazing one, but one that has fairly good quality and not too big or small.

Okay that is good about W7 :)

Max is £600.00, but I am willing to go another £50-100 if it will really benefit me, but no further than £700.00.

Okay added both windows 7 and a 1080p monitor. The monitor isnt the best but it'll suffice. Had to drop the CPU and mobo to a new intel pentium chip. Its only a dual core but since you have an after market CPU cooler you can OC it up to 4Ghz (Higher if you liquid cool such as a H100i) Also threw in a SSD for wayyyy faster boot times and overall OS speed so make sure to install windows 7 on the SSD, not the HDD. Total cost comes to £660

Feel free to ask if you have any questions :)

  3. Thanks for the replies guys, and particularly the video. I really appreciate it!

Here is the link build. If you can, i would highly recommend throwing in some extra money and pick up a 120GB SSD.

Wasn't sure if you needed any peripherals/OS/Monitor so didnt include them. If you want em, tell me and ill re-do the build for your budget.

P.S if the prices are not in the right currency, go to the top right corner and select United Kingdom.

  4. What is that. i dont know much about computers

The graphic card is a part in your computer that control and enhance how graphics (pictures, videos, programs, animation, 3D) are displayed on your computer screen.
Video explaining what a graphic card is (GPU):
How to install a new graphic card:
  5. I think your problem is a thing called TDR checker monitors the computers hardware, particularly the GPU, is say the GPU stops responding with the computer for 2 seconds TDR checker restarts the driver. The TDR checker was good on paper but did not work in the real world. as a graphic card can stop responding when it is working hard.

Issue since the time of vista.

    Solution:

    Exit all Windows based programs.
Click Start, type regedit in the Search box, and then double-click regedit.exe from the results above. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Browse to and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMControlSet002 (sometimes called ControlSet001) ControlGraphicsDrivers

On the Edit menu, click New, and then select the following registry value from the drop-down menu specific to your version of Windows (32 bit, or 64 bit):

    For 32 bit Windows
    Select DWORD (32-bit) value.
Type TdrDelay as the Name and click Enter.
Double-click TdrDelay and add 8 for the Value data and click OK.

    For 64 bit Windows

    Select QWORD (64-bit) value.
Type TdrDelay as the Name and click Enter.
Double-click TdrDelay and add 8 for the Value data and clickOK.

Close the registry editor and then restart your computer for the changes to take affect.

This puts a delay on the tdr checker of 8 seconds thus the gpu can stop responding for 10 seconds, usually this fixes the problem, if you are still suffering from this issue (after updates or a reinstall of drivers, you know all that annoying driver stuff)
Then do this, do the same thing but instead of "TdrDelay" type "TdrLevel" enter the data value as 0 (it is set to that natively, but double check) then delete the TdrDelay,

    Restart

That completely turns off Tdr checker, so now windows 7/vista/8 now works more like windows XP

    Hope it works :)

  6.

I GET TEXTURE LOSS HOW DO I FIX ISSUE

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1
    System Manufacturer: BIOSTAR Group
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
    Memory: 4096MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
    Chip type: GeForce 9500 GT
    Monitor Model: DELL E151FPb

    Get a better GPU like a 750Ti.

  7. The video card is the most important component of a desktop gaming computer with the exception of the processor. It should be a big investment. Currently it's actually going for $330, but $350 is a bargain compared to the $500 cost of the top of the range model 780. A 770 is a 780 that didn't come off of the assembly line with the correct amount of shader cores or couldn't clock itself as high with stable results. So they're very inexpensive for how powerful they are.

Agreed. Some people get a Titan when you can pick up a 780 Ti for a lot cheaper and just overclock it a bit and performance is on par.

  8. Or not. A 770 is a 780 with about a 5% performance difference, which an OC can fix.

    Comparison for dummies: http://www.hwcompare.com/17293/geforce-gtx-750-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-770/

That's terrible also. All the cards you're looking at are less than $100 for a reason. Anything under a 650/750 is useless, and you still only have a mediocre card until you look at the 660/760 range and above.

The 770 is 350 plus, if you can afford it by all means get the 770. Great card.

  9. Its okay, CPU is average. I would buy a separate GPU because both of the ones they listed are pretty bad. For 140 bucks pick up the EVGA GTX 750Ti SC 2GB @ Amazon (Link below)

Also for RAM 4GB is more then sufficient for gaming but if he goes into video rendering/editing or Photoshop, then it would be better to go for 8GB. No need for 16GB as its pretty useless unless you dont wanna buy RAM for the next 10 years :P

Other then the graphic card, you should be good.
