  1. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this.  There's no crash log because the game doesn't crash but after arresting someone, i often experience a short game stutter, where everything will freeze for about a second and then resume shortly after.

I'm thinking it may have something to do with arrest manager and police life both activating at the same time.  Arrest manager to prompt for prisoner pickup, and policelife giving you experience.

When I disable arrest manager it appears to more or less clear up, I'm still testing out the specifics.

I'm running an i7 920 processor with a gtx 970, graphics on medium to high.

Anyone else experiencing this?  Here is my most recent game log with no crash.

  2. To reach in and drag a person from a vehicle that will potentially go mobile, or is spinning tires, or ramming vehicles is extremely dangerous for police.  A very high risk of being dragged, pulled, or caught in the seatbelt as the vehicle drives off.  For any Americans reading this, Canada has a very different use of force method compared to the USA, and the RCMP has some very specific policies that could not be applied in this case.

For example, RCMP are restricted for the most part from shooting at vehicles, or parts of vehicles, including tires. Shooting the driver is fair game, but in this specific case out of the question.

A restrictive firearms policy.  A police officer or someone must be in immediate life threatening danger for a firearm to be discharged.  They cannot shoot to apprehend, unless they believe (and im going to paraphrase here) that he is imminently planning and intending or surely cause harm to others should he escape.

A very restrictive pursuit policy.  Stolen vehicles, traffic offences, impaired driving are for the most part not pursued without extenuating circumstance, and with great personal liability to the police officer.

I think they did the best they could, given the tools they had.  I was thinking a spike strip could have worked, but I have a feeling with the large tires it would have been ineffective.  But they caught their guy, it just took him crashing a few minutes away to do it.  I think the swearing is a non issue. Given the stress its understandable, they're only as human as anyone else.

  3. So I've starting looking at ai mods, trying to make the game more realistic / challenging, specifically focused on ai and vehicle handling.  I found the pursuits easy to catch, easy to end, you called for backup and they usually obliterated the fool who was trying to run away.  I wanted to find a way to increase vehicle speeds, difficulty, and so on.  I like the idea of a catastropic crash putting you out of a pursuit much faster, and making you more likely to lose a vehicle if you are careless and/or use poor tactics.  I was also kind of annoyed at the over slow max speed of most vehicle.

So I started looking into and installed a few mods that increased the damage and changed the vehicle handling characteristics.  There was a few out there but settled on RealisticDriving by Killatomate. http://www.moddb.com/mods/realistic-driving-v . It was nice to see the vehicle's you control moving at breakneck speeds, braking being mandatory, and supercars being.. well super.

I started playing a few police missions, started a pursuit, and began chasing the car, but quickly realized the ai didn't seem to be pushing their car to their max, and every single backup police car was left in the dust, never being able to join the pursuit as they were too slow.  It seemed as though the ai was not using the cars to their full potential.

So I decided the ai must be the problem, and started looking at ai mods.  I'm testing out the "insane drivers traffic mod" by fortinwithwill https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/insanely-bad-drivers-traffic-mod . I've started on level 3 (cautious) I haven't found a good mix yet, but I wanted to see if others are following this same logic and have found any solutions or mod groupings that work well.  So here are my thoughts on what a good ai / handling / realism blend should look like.

The ai should be able to drive around for the most part without destroying themselves on their daily grind, travelling at or near city limit specified speeds.

The ai should be able to, when pursued push their cars to their limits, and reach higher speeds.  Some cars (super cars) should be able to outrun police.

The police ai should also be able to, when pursued, reach higher speeds. Some police cars (super police cars or helicoptors) should have to be used to catch these super cars.

Damage to vehicles should be a higher, where a likely fatal collision should render a vehicle immobalized.

Does anyone have any mod groupings or settings they would like to share, focused on realistic handling, and realistic ai settings.

    Cheers.
