Don't get me wrong, I think it would still be an interesting and entertaining feature to add into the game. However, I just feel like the AI cops slamming into your motorcycle during a chase wouldn't end well. Or your partner constantly getting caught in traffic with the AI randomly changing lanes at horrible times.
Well all those issues could be avoided.
- having the NPC cop crashing into you: drastically reduce the speed at a certain distance. The distance can be queried with each Tick event so that shouldn't be a problem.
- avoiding that the NPC cop gets too far behind. Again I would query the distance and if that exceeds a certain value he and his bike could be teleported near to you. We can see exactly this behavior with the TBOGT drug missions and with the VIP plugin.
I think the biggest challenge is the change of speed for the NPC cop. It has to adapt dynamically a) to your speed and b) in regards to the distance. He has to accelerate if he falls back and decelerate if he gets closer. Mathematically that's not a big problem either but to find the optimum values needs a lot of research, setting new values, recompiling, reloading of the script and facing game crashes every 5 reloads or so. That's always a pita.
Hmm that mod is pretty much done in my head already. guess I give it a try in the next days but first I have to get a grip on the LCPDFR API. I hope there's a detailed documentation for it (CHM file or HTML). Furthermore there are some real life events which I have to care for first.
Well great, there is NO API documentation. There's a PDF file called "LCPDFR API Documentation.pdf" but it's really a "getting started writing LCPDFR plugins for beginners" only. An API documentation looks complete different. It contains detailed descriptions and (if necessary) code examples of all public members like classes, interfaces, properties, methods, events, delegates and so on.
Well, I need the LCPDFR API just for the police partner instance anyway.

Hi there,
I'd like to report something that was kind of a stupid coincidence. I got a callout for a suspicious parked vehicle. I found it, called the bomb squad and then a hooker came along and tried to steal that very same vehicle.
The result was that LCPDFR had shut down your plugin due to an error.
So I suggest you lock all car doors with your next update.
Here is the log:

Seriously? She is sueing Rockstar on the grounds that they created another character in game artwork (which has been around for a year now) who was a white woman with blonde hair? Under that logic, I should sue Rockstar under the basis that they created a character of me without consent because they have brown hair. I don't understand the thinking behind some people, I mean, it looks nothing like her!
I think that's just a desperate attempt to get attention and back into the minds of the public.

I'd be afraid to ride a motorcycle beside an AI cop to be sincere. We all know how their driving is..
True, I haven't thought about that. I was about to start a proof of concept but now that I consider this behavior I think it's better to scrap this idea altogether and save the time for something better.
-
Im having some problems with the trainer. I tried it manually spawning some policeb but they wont ride it, they only pick cars to follow, and only if there is no space in my vehicle.
How do you do to fix this?
Sorry I was so unclear about it. We can't get bodyguards riding a police bike with the Simple Trainer. What I meant is that it's possible to let any ped follow you in any vehicle from a developer point of view. There are also those drug war missions where Armando and Henrique follow Luis in a black van. Having your partner follow you on a police bike should be pretty much the same.

I loved the video LMAO. The car constantly slammed into the back or side of a civilian vehicle. Especially loved that part where the civilian changed lanes and you were ejected from the vehicle. Hilarious.
That wasn't me but the driver. Anyway thanks for the reply and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

-
I have fixed a minor glitch at the point when the helicopter was landed by another person. You can see this glitch in the video where the chopper lands at the parking place in Northwood. Exactly that one has been fixed. Moreover I have polished the code some more and changed the flight information messages as those speed values are only valid with ground vehicles and boats.
Current version is 3.0.3
-
I have just uploaded a showcase video for the moving target tracing feature.
-
I have asked for this quite a while ago
'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
but further down you see a response from Sam (LCPDFR developer). He thinks it's not possible.
However we can get it to work manually with the Simple Trainer. See my last post with the YouTube link. So I think it is indeed possible.

Yay that's great! Thanks a lot man.

Hi guys,
today I updated my Autodrive mod to V3.0. Besides from doing regular automatic driving, boating or flying to any given static waypoint you can now also let some driver do the work when you chase someone. On a helicopter patrol you can monitor a fleeing suspect and drink your coffee relaxed while the pilot follows the suspect.
There is a ton of more information and detailed handling and installation instructions in the guide which is either part of the rar file (includes mod, configuration file and the guide) which can be downloaded here
http://www.gta4-mods.com/script/autodrive-some-kind-of-extended-taxi-mod-f25867
or separately right from my project repository here:
https://bitbucket.org/rainerhilmer/autodrive/downloads
EDIT: Now ain't that great! I tested this new version throughout the whole day and everything was fine but now I found some unexpected behavior.
EDIT: Fixed
Known issues: Alas fleeing peds created by LCPDFR are not set to any specific relationship group but are just members of the general civil_female or civil_male group. In order to track them anyway my mod takes the ped nearest to the waypoint marker. So chances are that Autodrive chases the wrong target. As long as there is no way to clearly distinguish a fleeing LCPDFR ped from any other ped around I see no way to fix this issue. Suggestions are very welcome.- Murphy , DivineHustle and Pengi

I don't really care for the names. I think the main thing is that GTA V will be moddable and that we get great mods. :)
-
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find "Other police car" but "AdditionalCopCarModels".
So I tried this:
AdditionalCopCarModels=AIRTUG
but alas I can neither pull over other vehicles nor do I get the police computer when I'm sitting in an airtug.
@TheMasterPatrol2014: Sorry but that's no option for me because I would lose those other vehicles therefore.
UPDATE: That's strange, it works with the CADDY but not with the AIRTUG. o_O
-
Hello there,
I know there are players who want maximum realism in the police simulation but I play this game just for fun and always just driving around in one of the police cars is kind of boring. So I'd like to have the police computer and the ability to pull over other vehicles in any car or bike I choose to drive. You could pretend it's an undercover mission. ;)

The mods I run:
Policing
vdh PoliceHelper
medicalExaminer
TowService
Callouts+
WoutersCallouts
There are a few others but they only activate through a keystroke and none of them was active at this time.System specs:

LukeD, saying "it's your fault" is not polite either.
You wanted me to look at it from your perspective. Now please look at it from my perspective. I was just standing besides a car and I pressed Shift+X. So how is that my fault?
I create mods myself and whenever there's something wrong the people come complaining, I resolve the problem in an objective manner and even though I know from their descriptions that it's most likely an installation error by the user I don't say "it's your fault". That's not professional.
If you need people to lick your feet in order to keep you motivated then I feel sorry for you. Just look at my PTS mod. Over 5.300 people downloaded it but only a handful gave me an appreciation. So what? I create mods because I like creating software and I like to see my ideas become reality. I just let others participate. If they like it, fine. If not I'm still okay with it because I'm having fun with my mods no matter of their popularity.
Thank you for fixing.
-
English is not my native language and I thought "could you please" is a polite proposal. Am I wrong with this?He doesn't have to add any functions, or fix anything. He doesn't really have to do anything with the mod. Callouts+ is, as LCPDFR, developed in his own spare time because he enjoys it. That doesn't mean that he has to fix any of the bugs, he does that because he has a passion for it. Now, constructive critism is always good, but appreciation is never wrong either :P
BTW 0.4.1 didn't fix the removal cop crash. I get the very same stack trace.
-
I was just walking towards a drunken person (running LCPDFR 1.0c).

I caused it myself? Are you kidding me? Anyway could you please add a dismiss function? That would help a lot.
-
I have two things to report.
1. I called for a vehicle removal but the cop car got spawned in the water. There is no timeout, no automatic respawning and no possibility to dismiss in such a case.
2. Your mod crashes LCPDFR when the removal team arrives and a cop gets out of the car to take over the one I called for. I tried twice and it happened both times. Here is the log:

Wow! o_O
Can't wait to play with it.
-
every1 saying yes can't wait for LSPDFR
you do realize you have to wait and see if gta 5 is gonna be even moddable in the 1st place , then if it is, it'll likely take my guess anywhere where from 9 to 12 month's + to write and make LSPDFR
I know I know and I develop mods for GTA IV myself. I depend on a .net scripthook and I'm not even sure there will ever be one but please don't destroy my dream prematurely. ;)
Oh and btw: I think Rockstar knows very well about how mods like LCPDFR vastly increased the popularity of GTA IV. It would be no smart move of them to NOT make it moddable (is that even a word?).
-
YES! YES! YES! Can't wait to play LSPD:FR! :D
-
0.4? When have you released that? I visited the download page of your mod just about 30 minutes ago and there was no 0.4 but thanks for letting me know. Going to download now. :)
EDIT: There's still no V0.4.
