[Alert] IVDashCamv2.exe Notice

Hello LCPDFR Team!

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for these MODs.

Great work!

Secondly, I'd like to bring to the attention of all users, of this forum, that IVDashCam2.exe set off my Norton AntiVirus as a threat and was removed from my computer the minute it finished downloading.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, or if it was fine before.

But this is why I'm giving you this notice

Best,

KRI

Yes, I got it from here.

Unfortunately, my Norton AntiVirus removes the .exe file before I can even use it, so I will have to go with the .zip file of the MOD instead.A

All I did was restore the file to the original location, and moved it to an accessible folder.

Thanks guys!

I was a bit sketchy on the file, because usually only my AntiVirus goes off, when it's a legitimate threat, but my PC is fine.

Thanks again!!

Best,

KRI

Norton, like all major AVs, uses heuristic detection, which is prone to false positives. If in doubt upload to VirusTotal, I just tried and got 0/42 detection rate so you might want to check your sensitivity settings.

I've had my Norton 360 do stupid stuff like that before, but it has saved my PC more than once from rogue websites and such.

It also loves to give me a "high performance" warning for something stupid like steam when it uses a fraction of my CPU.

Out of curiosity, what is it detecting it as and does Norton have a false-positive reporting facility?

Norton uses a system called: "WS.Reputation.1"

Upon investigating further I found this:

WS.Reputation.1 is a detection for files that have a low reputation score based on analyzing data from Symantec

Congratulations Norton, I hope you are having fun ruining independent, free and open source software with your paranoid fuck wit detection.

Edit: I have submitted it to their white-listing facility but it can take "a number of weeks", anyone who wishes to report it or any other software as a false positive can do so here: https://submit.symantec.com/dispute/
