HELP! GTA IV Just Will Not Run Right...Please READ!!

i7 2600k @ 3.4GHZ, 2GB DDR4 Radeon 6670, 8 GB RAM...1.5GB TB. I Went out and bought the retail DVD version of the game. Installed it. Updated to 1.0.7.0 through GFWL, FPS still was around 28-33, rareley 40 (Extra Sunny, night time is awful.)

So it made a little difference then the pirated version, but nothing much. Now, how do I install patch 1.0.4.0 without having to update to 1.0.7.0? Just xliveless.dll version 1.0.4.0 after a fresh install and update of 1.0.4.0? Heard its better for performance.

I've tried all on lowest, still not much of a difference. And oh. I didn't know that, guess I'm stuck with shit 1.0.7.0

I have worse processor than you, yet my graphic card is better. GTA 4 is running on 35 - 40 FPS in worst moments. Are you using ENB's or something?

No, i just did a fresh install and updated to 1.0.7.0. I'm on a 64 bit, and for some reason it doesnt install a desktop shortcut nor appear in my start menu. I have to launch it from the .exe install directory. I updated video drivers. However im missing msxml.dll when I am not updated to 1.0.7 and get ws10 error, but no error after update. Is it a .dll im missing, driver or something? It should run very smooth I know... Over-clocking makes no difference, almost nothing does. I think its something either really simply retarted or either im missing something, could someone like guide me through it please? I love this mod, id love it more played properley!

which are the best for 1.0.7.0 if you dont mind? thanks and there on lowest, its the worst at night.

Alright, I've been using RealityIV - it gave me a FPS boost on my laptop, and it looked very realistic. Recently, I've switched to Realistic Time Cycle v5. It's more vibrant and colorful, and it seems to provide about 4 - 5 FPS (as opposed to 5 - 6 of RealityIV). The decision is up to you.

Create a text file named commandline.txt and paste this in:

-norestrictions

-nomemrestrict

Save and put in GTA 4 folder. It should give you some extra FPS.

Now the game doesnt start at all. Loads RSGSC, i click play offline (xliveless) disc icon appears, no game loads. I used Realistic time cycle v5. WHY is this game so difficult!?

Okay, nevermind. I got rid of xliveless and it works okay, but fps is still terrible at night and while driving. I know my PC has 4x what it needs to run recommended, what the fuck! Any one please, your help is greatly appreciated! :) ANY ideas?

Really the only thing I can tell you is did you update your graphics card. My system is some what similar to yours. I have a Intel Core i7 2600 at 3.4 overclocked to 4.0. Ram is 12GB and Graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD 6970, which mine is the same with Yard1 worse case is at least 40 FPS. So it's either you need to update your graphics card, or the graphics card just can't handle it. I tried searching your graphics card on AMD website, and found this page: http://shop.amd.com/.../900485?tabid=2 (Not sure if this one is right), but from what I see this graphics card only has 1GB of memory?

I have Intel Core i5 750 and Radeon HD6870 with 8 GB RAM. BTW. Most of today middle-class cards have 1 GB of VRAM, it's nothing strange.

Acupressure, try to delete that commandline.txt form GTA 4's directory.

Even though he's on lowest settings, and it still lags that seems like a graphics card to me. That's the only thing I can think of because all of his other system requirements definitely meet the game, even on max.

I'm actually getting somewhere here, about 38 fps everywhere on max settings... Dont know what happened, I switched my ATI 2GB DDR4 HD 6670 to load the geforce graphics for the game, made a good difference. Apparanelt atis = quality over performance?

I've heard that GTA 4 runs better on Nvidia cards, so that might be an issue (on my GT 9800 I've had only few FPS less than now, and it was a lot less powerful than HD 6870...). Other games don't seem to have that problem.

BTW. How did you make ATI card to load Geforce graphic?

I've also heard that to. I think if I remember correctly Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, always had a Nvidia logo pop up every time the game started. I know Nvidia came out with a new Graphics Card which is the GTX 690, which is suppose to be the most powerful graphics card alive. Although the thing is heavy on price. Now Grand Theft Auto 4 is the only game I know that seems to always have FPS issues. I know on like Crysis 2 for example my FPS was always a steady 60FPS on max setting and never a problem.

As far as a mod goes for that the only thing I can think of is a mod for weather. I don't think a weather freezing was was ever made.

trainers simply cause issues with ELS keys, and i do not want to re map everything in case and install gets corrupt.

And for you who asked about the ati texture changes;

Go to folder

WHERE YOU INSTALED\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\common\shaders\

Change

win32_30_atidx10 ( NEED HAVE AN GEFORCE 8 and HIGH )

to

win32_30_nv8 ( you are forcing your nvidia card to make textures created for ATI DX10.1, geforce also emulate that )

and change

win32_30_nv8

to

win32_30_atidx10 ( TO MAKE AN BACKUP FOR FUTURE PATCHES - is important to make this )

If you have an ATI card do the same, and see if you have improvements or not. ATI cards have more quality, and geforce more speed.

mine starts and then keeps on crashing once save game loads and says fatal error I have a purpose built custom gaming pc well above reccomended specs but I simply can not play as can not work out why it is crashing can someone please help me so I can play and did not pay a grand for this pc solely so I could play this mod for it to never work for me please please please I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
