Rockstar trying to make Mods illegal

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

as if you are maybe aware of, Rockstar´s reached out to Take-Two to take down OpenIV because of it acting against their terms of service (?). Many sites like IGN or the German Spieletipps are saying that now mods are also illegal in singeplayer too and that is my problem. I´ve bought GTA a few days ago and found LSPDFR very very interesting because I really like the police. But now I won´t be able to play it anymore without getting a ban, right ? Will that also restrict me from playing singleplayer if I get banned for this ? How do you think this is going to end ? Will LSPDFR shut down because of it ? I mean some people here make mods for a living or get donations by it as far as I can tell and that would destroy this and also enrage many of the fans given that GTA has a thriving modding community. And I apologize for any mistakes in spelling or grammar, I´m from Germany but I try my hardest :)

Where have you seen R* wanting to shut it down. They've supported mods discretely.

Yea they supported mods such  as The Hulk mod and the GTA 2 Map mod, R* NEVER wanted to close OpenIV by far R* don't care what you do on Single player Just MP is all they care about

This were the sites I read it on. I thought it was IGN but it was pcgamer I first saw it. Some German sites you probably don´t understand :P

We already have an active topic on the OpenIV shutdown: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/topic/75871-openiv-discontinued-take-two-game-modding-illegal/

This does not affect LSPDFR in anyway at this time. Modding is not "illegal" and that was a very poor choice of words on their behalf. It has always been against the EULA to modify the game, and now Take Two is acting on that. You still cannot be banned from playing the game for using mods in singleplayer, and no game can really ban you from actually playing singleplayer.
