ELS files included with car mods

Title says it all! I want to know their purpose, and if i actually need it. What does it change? Where do i put the file. Please give as much info as possible. This is for lcpdfr.

It's the file that tells ELS what the light setup of the car is. Where the Environmental lights should flash, what flash patterns work, headlight/taillight flashers, arrow boards ect. It's not needed, you can use the default ones included in ELS, but if it's been included with the model it means it's probably been tailored for that specific model to enhance the feel/realism.

I haven't played LCPDFR in over a year but I'm pretty sure it just goes in a folder in your main directory, and then you link it up in the els config file. It should be in the els manual or the installation instructions for the model.

ELS files are vehicle configuration files to be used with the Emergency Lighting System. Without them, the lighting won't work as the mod-author intended. (If you're using it with ELS, it'll still work, however!)

They go into the root GTA4 folder, where the executables are. You'd need to edit ELS.ini and set the VCF as appropriate. I haven't played with ELS in a good long while so I don't remember exactly how the INI file goes, but if your config file's name is "ambulanceconfigname", it'd look similar to

I don't have the user manual in front of me, though, so you'd be better off reading it to get an idea of exactly how it goes.

No you've got to put it inside the ELS folder and then setup the _SLOTCONTROL.ini file accordingly. So say for example the ELS configuration file is called "2011_CVPI.ini", you need to open the _SLOTCONTROL.ini file, find the car model you replaced and change the "File = default_config" line to "File = 2011_CVPI". You may also need to turn the status on or off, depending on which slot you used.
