My thoughts go out to Nice, France, emergency services, intelligence agencies and the government. Atrocious events once again.

For those not following this on CNN, we now have 77 confirmed dead in Nice, France.

Also, my prediction is that this attack is in retaliation of France sending more naval support, including an aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean. Just speculation, but that is a possible reason, and of course hitting on such a historic day makes it all the more worse.

Reading through short articles from FOX, CNN, etc, the number may have risen to 84 dead, 18 severely injured. French police shot the man dead; he had a ton of weapons in the truck including grenades. Turns out this man was known to police, and he was from Tunisia, supposedly a "moderate" Muslim country compared to others; where it turns out no other country has sent more fighters to help ISIS, 62% of people think a leader with a strong hand is better than a democratic form of government, and 83% of people think Tunisian law should either follow or strictly follow the Qu'ran. This is likely another ISIS inspired or ISIS sanctioned attack.

Waking up almost every day reading about more and more attacks and innocent people murdered all over the world makes me sick. I wish I could contribute to killing these savage murderers somehow. Maybe joining our corps in Syria isn't that bad idea.

More than 80 people dead, from one delivery truck driving through the cheerful crowd. Insane and absurd.

I happen to live where it happened (and by that I don't mean the city, but the location of the attack), so I heard everything: shots fired, saw people running away in every directions, vehicles driving wrong way street to go away, it was total chaos, not mentioning the ambulances that kept going between the scene, and hospitals. It was somehow quiet, fireworks was very nice, and all the sudden, you hear people yelling, and all PD responding to the scene, as well as EMS, sirens were on all night.

TV crew was on scene fast, and interviewed a father, who was sitting next to his dead wife and baby bodies, there are also many videos on youtube showing the next minutes following the attack and all the bodies laying on the ground.

This morning, when I got out, all streets leading to the "promenade des anglais" are closed with cops on every single one of them, they left the truck and dead bodies until around noon, today. You can still see all the trash thrown by people in the panic, destroyed bench, and lamp poles.

Here is a video I recorded, people left flowers, one was singing.

I'm sorry you have to go through and hear this, it's really sad for this nonsense violence to happen. May god be in you and everyone's prayers. Stay safe!!

Glad you're safe despite all of that chaos. Keep your eyes peeled, but at the same time; don't be afraid to live your life.

@gangrenn I'm glade you are safe. I can't imagine what you and your community are going through.

As @unr3al stated, it is important for the people of France and the world to resist these attempts to bully and punish a society.

It appears that ISIS has indeed taken credit for the attack.

I would refrain from taking conclusions too fast personally, it seemed like the french government itself is stalling on whether it was indeed a terrorist attack or a madman mass murder, their prime minister said he was an integrist islamic man, but the intern security minister said he wasn't. And ISIS is known to take credit for stuff they actually didn't do, like the recent crash of the Egypt Air plane!

Confirmed terrorist attack. The interior minister says he was "radicalized very quickly", and this is now considered to be a terrorist attack that was at least inspired by ISIS video messages suggesting that Muslims should rise up against the western coalition that has come together to fight ISIS in the middle east. A phone number on the deceased perp's phone ties into a man by the name of Omar Diaby; who commands a French branch Islamic Jihadi battalion in Syria that is loyal to Al Queda.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Let's just hope someday we'll be able to wake up without watching something new in the news...
