Is it possible to install two copies of GTA IV in the same PC?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, i 've recently transformed Liberty City and i've modified lots of cars to make the city seem like London...

The problem is that this "London version" is really buggy (i can't play LCPDFR very well) but i don't want to replace the cars with the originals (also because i don't want to make all this work useless XD )

I'd like to know: can i install two copies of GTA IV in the same PC, one with London vehicles and the other one with the original vehicles (to keep playing LCPDFR without problems)?

I hope i wrote in an understandable English...if not, please tell me, i'd try to rewrite everything XD

Where's RCMP, LAPD and European departments? Pfft.

LAPD/CHP/LASD are all in the Grand Theft Auto IV folder, I couldn't be bothered to renamed it. I had the British Police Pack but I didn't like it much, lol, doesn't go well at all with the Liberty City atmosphere .  Played a while with the Carabinieri / Polizia mod, that was pretty cool as well then I got bored of it. Never tried RCMP, on my to do list. I have so many versions of GTAs because I get bored fairly quickly to be honest.

Even though I get bored quickly, I don't bother copying the whole game (15-18GB takes far too much space on a hard drive just for a few cars, especially when I have something like 30+ different car fleets ready to install). Why not saving the vehicle.img file, ELS file, vehicle.ide file, and the peds files if you have custom peds? Takes much less space, and also a lot less time to replace.

Alaskan GTA - Snow mod, Frozen IV, Antarctica map mod

Californian GTA - Palm tree mod, different time sync, LA Mod

Border GTA - Route 66 mod - very laggy so it would be impossible to install other mods over it.

You get the idea.  I have a terabyte of space on my PC and another 500gb on my hard drive so space isn't really a problem. Plus I have all the shortcuts laid out on my desktop and it's really convenient .

Yeah it is. Ive currently got several versions.

GTA IV EFLC Metropolitan Police

GTA IV Los Angeles Police Department

GTA IV New York Police Department

Plus my next one will be GTA IV with older Met Police cars, such as Obsidian Games' Vauxhall Omega.

So this thread is now about showing off how many directories you have.

I always imagine your profile picture to be a flying sheep.

I have 3 directories: stock, singleplayer, and multiplayer

A flying sheep? It's a RAF Typhoon painted with the D-day markings which were on the allied aircraft during the invasion of the beaches, so that they could tell which aircraft were allies. But a flying sheep is good too

Get on my level

WOW...amazing :) Just a few questions: does every "version" have a different savegame? Do you use different savegames folders for each version? If yes, where are they located?

I use xliveless and my savegames are in the "documents" folder.  If i build  another version of gta, where will the new savegame folder (of the new version) be located?

They all use the same savegame dictonary. So I load the 'bellic cousins" mission on every version and play. Works quite well.
