United States Marine Condemns Actions Of NYPD

Recommended Posts

Now obviously this event is pretty outdated, however there's still plenty of room for argument. In the first video I've linked, the Marine is condemning the violent actions of the NYPD during the "Occupy Wall Street" peaceful protests.

The second video I've linked, is the same Marine during an interview. He explains his actions during the protests.

Yeah, pretty pathetic. If you're a marine veteran, current or retired, and you're gonna wear your uniform, wear it with pride. Not like you drank too much and have no idea what you're mumbling about.

Besides, cops will always step up the aggressiveness of their response during protests. All it takes is one dumbass with alcohol to incite a riot.

The NYPD is one of the most known agencies in the US for police brutality, he is not some "dumbass who drank too much". I respect this guy, calling this guy a dumbass is ignorant.

Since when do Marines wear their ribbons on utilities ? Damn bro if you are going to go out in public in your uniform, wear it like you actually were in the Corps. This a bad example of a Marine Standing up for someone. This is a damn shame.

i like how everyone is more focused on what he's wearing than what he said.. wisdom is falling on def ears here.  and also he put his life on the line to defend our country i think he deserves to wear whatever he wants the way he wants. to call him pathetic and say its a damn shame is nothing short of being Rude and extremely Ungrateful.

Im Glad he said something to those cops from the looks on their faces it seems like they were actually listening the look on their face was the look of someone who knows they're wrong. I Doubt it will change anything but hey, that doesn't mean we shouldn't tell them how it is when they're wrong.. He Should be glad those cops didn't find a stupid reason to arrest him if it wasn't for all of those cameras i guarantee that would have happened.

Never said he was a dumbass who drank too much. Don't jump to conclusions. He's disheveled and shouting, and probably didn't do anything to help his "cause".

You get one chance to make a first impression. If Martin Luther King showed up looking disheveled, nothing he said would have had any merit. If he would have shown up in full uniform looking at minimum, "proper", then his words would have more merit.

Listen here sir were the cops beating anyone ? Did they have any weapons out ?  No. I am grateful of both the Armed Services and the Emergency Services but both do wear their uniforms the proper way with a great deal of pride. My dad served 7 year in the Army and i am very proud of that. I didnt say what he said was bad just that he could have took a little more pride in his uniform. If there were no armed forces then we would be screwed and if there was no cops we would be screwed. Not being rude just saying be proud of the uniform you wear simple.

This man served his country, as well as the rest of his family. Now he's still trying to protect it's citizens by stopping police brutality. You would be ignorant to believe there is no police brutality in the NYPD. I will defend the police when it comes to justified violent actions, but what this man was talking about was unjustified violent actions. Beating people up in a peaceful protest is unjustified. Whether or not that actually happened, I don't know, I never kept up on the occupy Wall Street movement.

if he wasn't proud of the uniform i don't think he would be wearing it.  also In Case you didn't Watch the whole video, he clearly states that he was watching NYPD officers acting over Forcefully on US Citizens he was telling the Officers there was no need for Riot Gear because the crowd of people were In NO WAY what so ever Violent in nature. to quote him, "They dont have guns." "why are you hurting these people" "there's no honor in that"   and if you notice in the News Interview he had witnessed NYPD officers at one point Punching a woman in the face Multiple times.   im sorry but Punching Someone in the face Is MUCH Different than arresting someone even in a struggle to Arrest someone Punching someone in the face or anywhere really is just straight up wrong

Same with Kicking.. its like Police officers Now have forgotten to use their Body weight to stop the Suspect from squirming you know the old Put a Knee in his back technique?? now its just kick him or her and punch him or her untill he or she is blue which is i feel wrong.

By the way "Were they beating anyone?" here ya go..

Here's an NYPD officer "joking" (terrible Joke") to another officer that quote "my little Nightstick is gonna get a workout tonight" and hits the ground..

There are bad cops (which should be to obvious by now) my whole point was "The Marine" should wear his uniform properly and maybe like Pavelow said  "his words would have more merit."  I never seen my dad wear his uniform like this before.

I beg to differ....

When you come out looking like he did, screaming like he did, you're going to look like a drunk dumbass, especially to cops. I never said, "yup, he IS a drunk dumbass".. I'm sorry your reading comprehension is isn't up to par.

And I never denied police brutality in the NYPD (comprehension problems again?)

But no. There were no beatings for Occupy Wall Street. Of course their were those who claimed they were victims, but they were injuries associated with a more "hands on" arrests. The people who claimed this are also those who would resist arrest.

I Respect your opinion on that even though i think that him wearing his uniform the way he did doesn't mean anything the fact that he's a marine should give his words as much merit as possible  the way he wants to wear HIS uniform is HIS choice and that's just the simple truth..   and also i would venture to say the Mindset of an Army veteran is different than that of a Marine Veteran totally different Environment from what I've seen.  this may have something to do with difference in wearing uniforms although like i said before it ultimately comes down to preference of the soldier..    to be honest i find it a bit ridiculous that we're stuck on what he's wearing given the seriousness of the words he said.. why should it be any different if he was wearing his uniform correctly?   if Appearance is everything what would happen if it was a Retired Homeless Vet who hasn't had clean clothes in years that said what this marine said? would anyone even listen??? if not then that is entirely wrong..  It shouldn't matter how someone looks if what they are saying is right

EDIT: POST ABOVE ME...

says he doesn't Deny Police brutality in the NYPD

then Denies Police Brutality in the NYPD....

Also to Pavelow.. There's No need to get Defensive and start to insult others Intelligence  lets try to keep this as civil as possible

My comment on that was separate from my reply to you, hence why there is a space between my reply to you and that short paragraph (though I can understand the confusion).

I'm not going to bother arguing semantics, especially if you're only going to insult.

I'm just gonna jump in on this. I respect both sides as equal. Last time I checked, we live in The United States of America. We have rights and freedoms. And if we dont like something about our country (technically) we have the right to change it. This guy didnt see something right. He saw the crowd and the cameras, and went for it. Honestly if I was one of the officers, I would have thanked him for speaking out on something that bothers him. I respect the police just as much, especially NYPD. When you live in the most populated city in America, it can be hard to keep tabs on every officer. At least most of the 35000 officers are good officers. A few bad apples spoil the bunch...
