GTA V Snow Mod + Snowball pickup 1.1.0

   (32 reviews)

2 Screenshots

This modification brings the snow from GTA: Online to single player! Enjoy all of its glory with the latest additions & fixes by Rockstar to make a snowy Christmas happen in Los Santos! It also includes the ability to pick up snowballs from the ground, because why not?

Installation

There are two downloads provided, both installing exactly the same mod version.

SnowMod.rar just contains the plugin dll file. Put it into game folder\plugins as usual.
SnowMod_inst.rar contains an installer that will install the dll file for you automatically (note that the installer shows ad during the installation).

Usage

Snow Mod requires RAGE Plugin Hook 0.29 or later to run and is loaded as a plugin using the console (or automatically at startup if you have configured RPH that way). The snow effect is enabled automatically when loaded. To disable the snow effect in-game, use the console command ToggleSnow.

If there is no snow on the ground, but only a snowy weather effect, please disable Frame Scaling under Advanced Graphics options (see https://www.reddit.com/r/GrandTheftAutoV_PC/comments/3y1xjf/psa_if_you_cannot_see_the_snow_on_the_ground/ for more information).

Snowy Christmas guys!

What's New in Version 1.1.0

Released

  • Added support for latest patch (RGSC users please confirm it's working)
  • Added ToggleSnowballs command to enable/disable snowball pickup

When rage trys to load it on start up it says "can't be loaded because it caused the game to freeze" xD the irony. It works if i load it manually by the way

Excellent plugin, makes everything so much nicer when it's covered in snow. Just one thing though, I have no tire tracks or footprints. I have most of my settings on very high. Anyone know what could be causing them not to show? Thanks

Interesting, do you have snow tracks showing up in multiplayer? Also @ZZ13 suggested to toggle the snow to false and true once in-game (console ToggleSnow false/true), that allowed him to get the tracks working. Could you please try that?

@LMS Hi mate, toggling the snow on and off has fixed the problem. Thanks :)

Is there a way to add snow back on cars, like it used to be before the last update broke it?

https://youtu.be/hGgLFiVfPRw?t=9s

I know that the downside was having snow inside our vehicle but I personally didn't mind it at all, snow falling with clean cars looks really weird and the snow on vehicles really looked good.

I don't think R*'s snow "engine" includes this.

Alright the snow shows up on the ground but no tire tracks or ped foot prints. i tried using the command "ToggleSnow" and it does nothing. but when i reload the script this comes up in the upper left corner and in the rage command. I have no idea how i would be out of memory considering I'm running a GTX 960 4Gb with 16Gb ram and an i5 Intel processor. Any ideas????

The thing in the video is not the actual snow that GTA includes, it's a mod that apparently just puts white stuff over everything. LMS' mod brings the actual Online snow to singleplayer.

hmm. well it looks tons better. any place i can get a hold of that ? been looking for hours on google and youtube :P apperently its this mod https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/singleplayer-snow

'' this issue already existed in GTA:Online (snow inside cars) as Tunables where modified and snow appeared (back in April 2015). See this video https://youtu.be/jxbOZPZzlYM?t=792

So it seems to be a common shader or material problem of vehicles that snow get's placed on it. I'm afraid we won't be able to fix it until Rockstar will fix it (They have to as they'll put snow in GTA:Online in December).''  seems it was in orignialy, but it seems they never fixed it so they removed the snow on cars instead :(

This is how snow used to work before the last update on Dec. 17th: cars and also people were covered with snow but it also came with the downside of interiors being also covered.

They have fixed this issue with the Executives & Other Criminals patch in preparation for the Xmas event but it seems that both effects were tied so by removing snow from the inside it was removed altogether from vehicles. That would be great if there was a way to get this back.

When using previous snow mods, I enabled the cheat code "snowday" for sliding car effect. When using this mod (which is great  by the way!) I enter the slidy cars and my car can barely accelerate. It should also be noted that I have recently installed the semi realistic physics mod (https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/semi-realistic-car-physics-v). I have not noticed an effect on vehicle handling from this snow mod and would like to continue to use the cheat, anyone have a solution? Thanks!
