Synopsis

Los Santos Noir is a detective-styled modification for the popular police modification LSPDFR.  The framework provides individual cases that players progress through over time.  Utilizing LtFlash’s script manager, cases span multiple sessions.  You might start a case today, but you won’t be able to talk to the medical examiner until you hop on tomorrow!  Currently included are two demo cases.  These complete cases can take you through two different crimes that occur.  You’ll need to use your detective skills to find the evidence, talk to the individuals involved, request a warrant (hope it gets approved…), and arrest the suspect.  More cases are in development, however we wanted to release the script finally, since it’s in a completed format.

Development Roadmap

Two years of development have led to the creation of a modular, xml based plugin with unlimited possibilities.  The design started initially with an idea to create cases within the code, with one case created and running.  However, thanks to the wonderful mind of @LtFlash, my initial design was converted to be xml-based, allowing for anyone to make cases provided they have notepad on their PC.  This allows us to create a base framework that other creative minds can utilize, without any knowledge of development.  A new stage has been added, but is currently being finished - stakeout.  Expect the use of this stage soon in future updates.

**I will be adding additional cases that I have been working on soon(ish), however this release has been far overdue**

Features

·         XML-based cases

·         Session-spanning cases

·         Interactive interrogations

·         Unparalleled case depth

·         Interactive evidence viewer with crime lab support for evidence

·         Custom detective computer which holds each case

·         Much, much more!

Requirements

·         LSPDFR

·         RagePluginHook

·         RageNativeUI (included)

Installation

Place the files found in the included “installation” folder into your main GTA V directory

Make sure you have the latest RagePluginHook + RageNativeUI installed (for the sake of future releases, you MUST download RAGENativeUI here if you do not have it already: https://github.com/alexguirre/RAGENativeUI/releases) [Download the “RAGENativeUI.zip” and extract that to your GTAV folder]

Please post any issues or complaints in the COMMENT section below.  We have had a large suite of testers however things can slip by.  DO NOT post any support requests in the reviews section, please.

Feel free to give us feedback -- we’re always looking to improve this modification!

Special Thanks

·         MulleDK19 and LMS for bringing us the amazing RagePluginHook framework.  Without them, none of this would be possible!

·         @LtFlash for completely rewriting the modification after I worked on the alpha - his contributions made the modification modular and allow us to easily add new cases and stages and actually release a stable version!

I found the guy in the are, near the handcuffs icon. You can find him leaning to a kinda big blue building

Yeah I eventually found him lol. Felt like a jackass for not paying attention during the investigation. What I ended up doing was completely deleting the mod, reinstalling, and starting over. Thanks for the info bud ;)

the computer featutre won't work for me for some reason, I cant put my courser up high enough to select the case I want. If anyone knows a fix it would be a grate help. (I have found the "computorpositions.xml" file but don't know what to do with it). Thanks!

Are you playing on windowed?

For me putting the game on fullscreen fixes the problem.

I have the same exact problem on Computer+ aswell, and fullscreen got rid of it. No idea what causes it.

We appreciate all your support!

This script isn't perfect (I wish it was!), so thank you for your bug reports!  We're taking your feedback and will be working on continually improving your modification (I already have a new mode for interrogation in the works that'll make life a bit easier.

Note: being a detective is hard; the mod is designed to also be hard.

Thank you all!

@Fiskey111 Thank-You for all the hard work and personal time you've put into this plugin. I freaking love it. Quick question, is there any way to or has it already been suggested to slow down the text dialogue somewhat? If not, I just need to read faster :)

Great stuff here man, truly one of a kind!!! With regards to interrogations, what exactly should I be watching for? I didn't notice anything during the questioning that would indicate that they were telling the truth, being defensive, or flat out lying to me. It was mostly a guessing game from what I could tell (with the exception of clues I'd already compiled). Or, is this what you mean when you say that you have a new mode? In any case, you folks are doing FANTASTIC work here, and I couldn't be more greatful to see this released.

Those will be reworked soon, as well. Initially it was in place that you pressed "y" to continue to the next phrase, and I'm thinking we'll revert back to that. I think it got lost when LtFlash rewrote the entire mod. It's definitely something we'll be doing!

Lol - that was a pain to do. I modeled it off of the LA Noir style facial animations, but obviously GTA did not go super in depth with facial animations. All I'll say, take a look at their face. There are certain expressions for each answer. ;)

I have a few ideas for future updates:

1. new stations in Blaine county and Paleto Bay with new cases based in these areas;

2. ranking system with points;

3. some kind of a partner maybe?

@Fiskey111, i like to suggest somekind of file so users can set their own name, cause in my case, it's a bit odd with the default name as a female detective :P

Anyway, i love the mod and thanks so much for this. I hope you guys dont stop trying new ideas for missions in this. It's the best ever made, finally the user has to use their Brain and not just point and shoot.

1. This was initially planned, but we never got to that stage - definitely will do this, however!

2. I actually had originally considered a ranking system that gives you some additional "skills" with time - e.g. after some time and reaching a certain level of experience you become more skilled at determining whether a person was lying or not.  Or, your warrants get approved faster/more often.  Not sure where to go with it though.

3. That's a hole box I don't really want to open lol - Darkmyre has an awesome plugin for partners that works well, however I do think having a detective partner would be cool af.  Still not sure if I want to create a partner AI lol (tempting, however)

We've heard a few people request the ability for customized names so I've thought of a solution and will try to implement it!
Thank you very much!  We will be sure to update it when we can!

I got a crash after I arrested a suspect myself, should I leave officers on scene to do it for me?

Thanks.

I got this too. I'm going to assume we have to let the uniformed officers make that arrest.

this is so awesome, lots of work went into this. So sad I won't be able to play it. I get about 10 FPS as soon as I start it up, and on my first call the game crashed when I got to the hospital because it ran out of memory... very VERY PC-demanding... and my rig isn't that bad either... Unless there's a way to fix it?

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
CPU: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Memory: 16 GB RAM (16 GB RAM usable)

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Home

I am somewhat disappointed that the calls are created and wait until they come up more to play, could someone tell me if in the future the cases will be generated randomly or will it always wait for new ones to come up?

1) Issues with finding a drug dealer in Vespucci: as Fiskey mentioned, we don't want the mod to be too obvious and easy to complete. The detective work in real consists of 90% of laborous tasks like canvassing, collecting informations. That's what we wanted to re-create in-game. We can add a more helpful description to the dialog with a cop from narcotics or a computer entry about the guy but please don't expect any blips or "Press X to find a dealer" :D
2) Bugs w/ invalid peds: we are aware of that, it does occur sometimes and requires some kind of advanced protection as the game removes entities very aggressively whenever it wants to. ATM you can wait for the other cops to arrest the suspect.
3) Dialogues speed: I think we can make it customizable (config file entry).
4) Hardware requiremens: it has to be a local issue. I run GTA + LSN on a laptop with i3 + 635M and 8GB of RAM quite smoothly on low/med details.
5) Cases: creating a case like in the release version takes 10-12 hours of honest work for each case. The current system of waiting for a call reflects the real way of how detective work is done.
6) As for the mod so structurally complicated there are very few bugs. Still, we are thankful for every report containing a log excerpt so we can easily diagnose and fix existing issues.

Would it be possible for users to make there own missions for it and upload them? Any docs available?

@Slushy Creating a case is already available for everyone but we've got no documentation on this subject and it requires to work on raw xml files (aka no in-game tool). You can review files that are stored in \Cases folder - you'll be able to easily identify how it is made. We'll prepare some kind of tutorial in the future.

@LTFlash, then cases are not generated randomly? therefore they are always the same and there is no replayability since it is always the same

How are we supposed to create auto-generated cases since they require so many resources with specific informations? Even in LA Noire there are no stories created on-the-fly. It is too damn complicated to do sth like that in that budget and time.

@LtFlashI do not want to criticize the mod the idea is good and the immersiveness of being a detective fulfills it well, but what about unlimited options as it puts in the post? I do not know how unlimited you have to go from one place to another as you are marking the mission to arrest the suspect. I understand that it is a difficult mod to do self-generated but in the post they put things that is not me and I downloaded it very excited and when I finish the third mission to have to repeat again I get really angry, you put the mod as a mod of calls and it is more a mod of missions waiting for the community to fill it with missions that most of them will be without a sense of security, but well ... already you could have waited more before uploading an '' excellent '' mod which is based on missions without replayability with only three cases to play, finally give you a chance to see if the community apolla the mod and fill it with cases, if you do not have to remove it is a shame because in reality the idea is good but. .. very limited I see it

@LtFlash I've noticed quite a few typos within the dialogue, as an example I'll highlight the small typo.  <string>[You] Alright, thanks for the information(should be "information").</string>  and <string>There was (should be "were") 7 bullets in the guy's body.</string>

Just thought I'd give you a heads up, and if needed I'm willing to assist in the dialogue. Take care Flash
