Spike Strips Backup (Let the backup unit deploy it for you) 1.1.5.0

   (17 reviews)

!! ATTENTION !!

The development of this plugin has been discontinued.

I have integrated this plugin functionalities into a new plugin called "Ultimate Backup". Check it out!!

I made this plugin to implement a real life spike strips backup, inspired by LivePD show.

With this plugin, when you're doing a pursuit, you may request spike strips backup which will order another police officer to deploy the spike strips for you.

Then a fellow police officer will deploy the spike strips ahead of the suspect's vehicle.

This plugin is very light weight, thus almost no frame rate effect when using it.

PREREQUISITES:

  1. Rage Plugin Hook v0.57 alpha
  2. LSPD First Response v0.31 by G17
  3. Police SmartRadio v1.1.1.1 by Albo1125 (required to request the spike strips backup using police radio)
  4. LSPDFR+ v1.6.5.1 by Albo1125
  5. Traffic Policer v6.13.7.0 by Albo1125
  6. Arrest Manager v7.8.2.1 by Albo1125

INSTALLATION:

  • Copy the contents of "Plugins\LSPDFR" in this package to: "GTA V directory\plugins\LSPDFR"
  • Please open and edit "SpikeStripsBackup.ini" file, if you want to replace the keyboard key or controller button bindings

NOTE: If you're upgrading from previous version, please copy and overwrite all files.

HOW TO USE:

To request spike strips backup:

  • Position your vehicle behind the target vehicle (just like performing traffic stop)
  • When you're close enough, press the "request key". Default is "NumPad5" and you may customize it in the .ini file
  • Wait a few seconds and your police backup will deploy the spike strips ahead of the target vehicle
  • When the vehicle hits the strips, it will burst the suspect car's tires and then you can easily stop the vehicle!
  • The police backup will also join the pursuit when there is an active one

There are 3 ways to request the spike strips backup:

  • Keyboard (default: NumPad5)
  • Controller (default: LeftShoulder+DPadDown)
  • Police SmartRadio

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • The police backup position sometimes is weird when it is deployed near intersections or any branching roads
  • The positions are mostly fine when it is deployed on a straight road (e.g. highways or freeways)
  • Spike strips only burst the target vehicle's tires (friend or foe detection)

Please feel free to contact me through LSPDFR forum or download's comment section for any issue you encountered with this plugin.
Happy patroling! Enjoy!

Essential and a must have mod!! Really need this in game makes pursuits much better. I like the fact you have to be fairly close to the target vehicle as it still gives the suspect a little more chance to get away. Also its your call to make so if you feel the suspect needs to be stopped gives you more chance to end it.

Well done on a great script!

Finally got it to work in this patrol video: (Note: it looks like you already addressed the bugs in the new version you just released, I just installed the new version, this video is the Original Version)

Already giving this a full 5 star because its a much needed mod, Its so difficult to concentrate on driving in high speed and a few meters in front of a suspect to manually dropped the spike strip in time to get a hit! I love that you can signal an officer ahead to drop them for you! Hopefully they will pull it back automatically too! Cause I dont need flat tires too!

Pretty much works as advertised and pretty well at that.  Things I would like to see change:

No matter where you are, the ped that spawns is an LSPD cop.  I've seen either an LSPD cruiser or an SAHP bike spawn.  This should either pull from whatever is set as the local patrol unit in backup or custom backup, or alternatively, it should be configurable in the .ini so you can set what unit.  Same goes for the vehicle.  Ideally, if the ini method was chosen, you should be able to set a ped for the countryside and the city at a minimum, and same for the cars.  I'd also remove the bike as a vehicle option as spike strips are too big to fit in a bike's saddlebags.

Very Nice script.Nice work.

Flawless. And I appreciate the warning to proceed with caution when the spikes are deployed. Haha.

Now, let's add a button to Smart Radio for these spikes, like requesting PIT.

This is great for dealing with pursuits. I usually use the clock to not spam spike strip deployments. Its a great tool to have in order to reduce the risks involved with pursuits.

Fantastic mod and certainly agree with others who say it's a must have. I wouldn't dream of running a patrol without it.

Thanks very much for your time and effort.

Awesome mod!

Only thing I'd ask for is for it to work on blipped cars/suspect vehicles that have moved out of range, currently I have to be pretty close for it to work.

Been wanting something like this for a while, thanks for making it, absolutely love it.

The only ideas I would like to say is that spike strips units shouldn't spawn right away after you request it, it should have a randomized timer on when it'll spawn, as it's pretty unrealistic to see the unit popping out of nowhere. The second thing I'd like to say is that it should deploy spike strips for the pursuit whenever you request one, because it's kinda annoying to go ahead and drive up close behind the suspect in order to request a spike strip. Lastly there could be automatic spike strip deployment after the pursuit has gone on for a while, so that the player doesn't have to request it every time.

P.S. Sorry for the horrible English, I just woke up and I'm tired af xD
