Custom Backup 3.3

After a month of development, Custom Backup is finally here!

Custom backup gives you a new level of control in LSPDFR. The key feature of this mod is regionally customized backup, allowing you to set a different response for any area on the map. For any named area of the game (like "Rockford Hills", "Los Santos International Airport", "Sandy Shores", etc.) you can completely customize every level of response just like the built-in backup.xml. The syntax of the CustomBackup.xml file is very similar to the built-in backup.xml, but has numerous additions to increase your control over the game:

  • Set a chance for anything! Peds, vehicles, and vehiclesets now all take a chance attribute which controls how likely they are to be chosen. (The built-in backup.xml only lets you set a chance on peds.)
  • Configure vehicle extras, liveries, and colors! You can now set any color you want for any response vehicle, opening up a whole new level of customization for unmarked units. Vehicle extra configuration also works reliably, whereas it seems to have some issues in the built-in backup.xml.
  • Cop weapon selection! Set a list of weapons to give your backup units, set the probability for each weapon, and decide whether you want them to pick one at random or always get the most powerful one.
  • Set spawn distance range for each vehicle entry! Every vehicle entry can have a minimum and maximum spawn distance set. This allows for additional realism by making certain units spawn closer or further away. NOOSE SWAT probably isn't just hanging out around the corner, so make them drive in from a mile away. On top of Mt. Chiliad your backup will probably be coming from a long distance, but in Downtown there's probably local patrol units very near by. Your imagination is the limit for leveraging these settings.
  • Code 2 response with lights! Let's be honest, how often do cops really respond "code 2" with no lights? You can now configure your Code 2 units to respond with lights (but no siren), or to respond with their lights off but turn them on once they arrive and park on scene. YouTube video demo.
  • Integration with Better EMS: Download and install Better EMS, and you can call for an advanced EMS response through the Custom Backup menu.
  • Integration with Police Smart Radio: Call for backup from your radio! Call Code 2 or Code 3 local backup, or Pursuit and Air Support units.

Installation instructions are included in the download. Basic installation is pretty easy; just make sure to choose a CustomBackup.xml file to use and put it in place. Advanced usage of the CustomBackup.xml file is explained in great detail in the documentation PDF.

INSTRUCTIONS TO OVERRIDE DEFAULT LSPDFR BACKUP MENU:

To completely disable the built-in LSPDFR backup menu and use the custom menu instead, follow these instructions.

  • Edit CustomBackupLocations.ini. Set these settings:
    • CustomBackupMenuKey=B
    • CustomBackupModifier=None
    • OverrideLSPDFRBackup=false
  • Go to the GTA V settings menu
  • Under Keybindings, go to GTA Online section
  • Change "Look At" from B to something you don't use, like the numpad period

Thank you to @vladimir850 for figuring this out!

This crashes LSPDFR every time without fail when I try to open the menu while on the bank heist from albo1125's assorted callouts.

Well now it's just crashing in general :/

@zxDrugsxBunnyxz Hi, it's not "Look At" but "Point At": Settings - Key Bindings - GTA Online - 4th entry from the bottom.

@PNWParksFan  "Support for vehicle mods" appears not to be working. Am I doing something wrong? I want to spawn Lt.Caine emsvan with panels on rear side windows, so I've made this entry:

<Vehicle chance="30" livery="1" extra_1="true" extra_2="false" extra_3="false" extra_4="false" extra_5="false" extra_6="false" mod_Chassis="1">emsvan</Vehicle>

But the emsvan never spawns with those panels. BTW, livery and extras work well... I've also tried other cars and never succeed at spawning a mod...

Hi, what can we add in the XML so that back up units code 2 and 3 don't pull there guns out when they arrive. I use British styled mods and I would love them to not pull any weapon or even it was replaced to stun gun,

Thanks.

Thanks.

You can change the default gun to a stun gun in the INI file.

I'm having and issue, when i call for backup on a pursuit they spawn right in front of me (or even the chased car). Is it this mod doing that weird spawn ? How could i fix it ?

I seem to be having trouble finding the min/max spawn distances as advertised, I've checked both custombackup.xml (stock as I don't use RDE) and the .ini config file

They're documented in the documentation PDF, you'd have to add them to custombackup.xml yourself. I don't recall if there's any in the default XML provided.

I think I've got it.

minr="150" maxr="500"

Gonna boot up now and test. Was annoying having units pop up in front of me even though I was in the middle of the wilderness or whatever

Sometimes it gets weird finding places to spawn vehicles. Along the between Paleto and Zancudo on the highway, going over the big bridge, I've had backup spawn literally in front of my vehicle. They also happen to be LSPD units, so something with the game is messing up with zones there in the first place, which also happens with default LSPDFR.

Also, SWAT vehicles have a tendency to sit in place without turning on until you go over to them, not sure what causes that.

yeah changing spawn distances did nothing, anytime i call for any kind of backup htey just instapop in front of me and break immersion completely, both stock lspdfr and with this mod. it must be fixable, betterEMS has realistic spawns for ambulances so there must be some way to do it for backup units too?

Could someone share his stock_CustomBackup.xml with extended spawn distances ? Something like 200-300 would be good enough, i just don't like to see cars spawn in front of me.

Sorry to be a pain in the a***, but I was wondering if anyone one here would be kind enough to give me the names of tasers and nightsticks to put in the .ini/.xml files. I'm trying to make my game more in line with the Brit way of doing it, so having cops show and go full Rambo on someone's a*** because they gently shoved me is a little immersion breaking. Thanks in advance.

WEAPON_STUN_GUN I believe, but LSPDFR will always automatically give all cop peds a pistol and make them use it sometimes, so I doubt you can entirely prevent that from happening.

Thanks so much. Anything is better than PCSO's showing up with shotties.

Everytime I request backup via the menu my player will automatically get in an animation where he is standing up, this is really annoying when I'm in cover. is this normal or did I do somethin wrong?

Why isn't this working? It works just fine when I use it in the default LSPDFR backup customization, but when I use this mod it doesn't show what it's supposed to in the comp "tasks" and the "prop_head" changes texture for some weird reason, which doesn't happen in default lspdfr customization?

Here's the code (it's inside a custom menu entry):

<Peds>
  <Ped RandomizeProps="False" comp_face="1" comp_hair="18" tex_hair="3" comp_shirt="11" comp_shirtoverlay="43" comp_accessories="38" comp_pants="8" 		tex_pants="3" comp_shoes="25" prop_head="2" comp_tasks="10" tex_tasks="2">mp_m_freemode_01</Ped>
</Peds>
