** NOTE REGARDING RPH CRASHES **

If your GTA V crashes to the desktop, and RPH says that the crash was most likely caused by Keep Calm...to put it simply, it most likely was not caused by Keep Calm.

RPH tries to detect which plugin caused the crash by calculating which plugin was running at the time of the crash. Keep Calm runs constantly in the background, so naturally, RPH will think that Keep Calm is the culprit whenever you have a game crash.

GTA V can CTD for any number of reasons. Keep Calm does not do anything heavy enough to cause a game crash...I am not saying that it will never happen, but it has never happened in the history of Keep Calm's development. Anyone who has reported a CTD crash so far has had their issues stemming from elsewhere.

If you get an RPH crash that says Keep Calm was the cause, try un-installing Keep Calm, or disabling it from starting in the RPH settings. If the crashes persist, your issues are being caused by something else.

If the crashes go away, then re-install Keep Calm by downloading the latest release from LCPDFR.com. If the crashes then return, we need to diagnose the issue further, and you should post a comment here (or in the forum topic) so we can look into it.

** IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THE ENTITY PERSISTENCE MOD!! **

If you use the Entity Persistence mod by FtDLulz, you need to do ONE of two things...

  • If ped persistence is enabled, ensure that it is set to only 'persist' dead peds, not live ones (this is the default setting, to my knowledge)
  • OR...Disable ped persistence entirely

If ped persistence is enabled, and set to 'persist' LIVE peds, then Keep Calm will have NO effect at all!! (Not to mention that you will have performance issues if you do that!)

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Requirements
You must have at least version v0.41 of the RAGE Plugin Hook installed, LSPDFR v0.3.1, as well as v1.6.0.1 of the Stealth.Common DLL, which is packaged with this release. Keep Calm will check these versions on startup, and will refuse to run if older versions are installed.

You must have a fully legal, non-pirated version of GTA V.

Installation
- Copy the Keep Calm.dll and Keep Calm.ini files into the Plugins folder of your GTA V directory.

- Copy the Stealth.Common.dll file into your main/root GTA V directory.

Features
- Nearby drivers and pedestrians should not panic in the event of gunfire (police officers are excluded)
- Some customization is available via the config file
- Peds spawned by LSPDFR and LSPDFR plugins are excluded, to eliminate conflicts with callout plugins

Usage
- Press the toggle keybind (CTRL + 9 by default) to start/stop Keep Calm
- Keep Calm will start on it's own by default, unless the auto-start is disabled in the config file

Known Issues
Please note that GTA V does not always provide access to every pedestrian and vehicle in the area, and some peds may spawn AFTER the "calming" function has already been triggered. It runs in the background continuously, but each ped has to be modified individually.

As a result, some drivers and pedestrians may still panic in the event of gunfire. This may improve as new versions of the RAGE Plugin Hook are released.

This plugin has been released with the intent of minimizing the panic attacks experienced by the AI.

The panic attacks will NOT be eliminated completely, however, this plugin should hopefully minimize them enough to make the game more enjoyable. The main intent with this plugin is to not have drivers run officers over when they are in the middle of making an arrest after a pursuit.

For some reason, not sure if it's only me, this mod reduces my framerate by at least 30-40 frames per second. I've tested multiple different plugin/callout combinations and yet still, without the mod I run at a stable 80-90, and with it a very choppy 45-55. I have no clue what causes this, tried messing around in the ini/population density settings; and to no avail. Shame.

I consider this mod a must have. Was tired of protecting the citizens from evil, only to have them repay me by life in a wheelchair.

    Thanks @Stealth22!

Installed this mod and loaded the game right up. It works great and loaded with the numerous other mods I have with LSPDFR. It's great not getting run over. And every noticeable NPC around me stayed calm when I had to fire shots at a man shooting at me. I didn't get run over, attacked, or have NPC peds running wild and getting run over.

Overall works great and I had very very little lag only when I was in highly populated areas (in the city). It was very little, however, and game was definitely playable. A must have for anyone else with LSPDFR!!

EDIT: I did change the radius in the .ini file to 115. I noticed that NPC's still stayed calm in the area I was in when gunfire was exchanged. I believe this probably helped with the performance a slight bit.

To me, this mod is essential to lspdfr. Without it, things just get so out of hand with peds running everywhere and cars creating chaos when police pull out their weapons. Sadly though, this mod, in its current state, just decimates my fps. I have 20-30 better fps without it.

The author seems aware that many are having issues, but at this point, I haven't heard back from him about any sort of fix. I hope it gets fixed because while I still use it, it really damages my performance.

This is an essential mod if you want to maintain any kind of realism and control a scene. There is a slight performance hit but it's not significant and the functionality of this plugin far outweighs any lowered frame-rate.

My one major complaint: There is no error-catching for update checks

Why is this a major issue? This plugin automatically checks for updates on startup and it will crash LSPDFR if the servers are down (which happens fairly often). If this mod had an option to disable update-checks or properly detected and handled network timeouts then it would be a 5-star mod, no question.

I want to start by saying, excellent mod!  I find myself using this very often during my patrols.  Stealth22, thank you for your hard work.

As for the performance limitations this mod enlarges (microstuttering, etc.) I have a temporary fix for anyone with performance issues caused by the mod making the game unplayable.

    1.   PNWParksFan has released an excellent mod to clean up after GTA V's memory leak issues, leftover blips, and other code clutter caused by an LSPDFR crash.  Download that ish!!

    2.  Using CleanAllTheThings, commands like "ClearTasks", CleanWorld, etc, you will free up unused memory wherever possible to improve performance.  I reccomend doing this as a general habit between callouts, and after pursuits and ambient events.

    3.  For those with limited specs, disable KeepCalm at startup, and launch it when you need it, like during traffic stops and when a suspect bails on foot during a pursuit.  Once you aren't in a situation where you can be mowed by a civillian/having to stop officers from shooting everyone, simply unload the plugin again.  If your pc can handle KeepCalm in the background with only few instances of micro stuttering, this can often be fixed by following my first 2 points.  Note, I said OFTEN, not always! ;)

Stealth22, again, despite my hardware limitations, fantastic job, I eagerly anticipate a more ram-efficient version of this mod, and I understand that this is no easy task, so hopefully my findings help the community until someone finds a better solution.  For me, LSPDFR is unplayable without this mod, so as long as I can make the game playable with it running, I'm a happy camper, and I don't see why anyone else should not feel the same!  :)
