Vehicle Search - Search a suspect's vehicle! 2.1.7

This plugin is obsolete; you should download PoliceSearch instead.

Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

If you want another option in how you handle a situation, than this is for you. I hope you enjoy!

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

Planned Features

  • Integration with FinKone's Police Radio K9

Credit

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

I'd also like to give due credit to FinKone, who gave me help with positioning code, and for his own plugin, Police Radio.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

I love this mod. Prefer this and your Ped Search 100 times over the new "Search Warrant" (no offence to @Darkmyre just personal preference) and I really really hope you will get back to updating Vehicle and Ped Search as I would love to see an update out to this. Come on @FtDLulz <3

It has awesome searching animations but sometimes buggy with the animation but the only thing that really matters is searching a suspects vehicle.

Really love this. Gives you something else to do during a traffic stop. Also love the armor and ammo when searching the squad car. Always choose it as one of the first to download.

Make sure if you edit any controller buttons in the config that you use the proper syntax. It can cause it to crash if you don't. See here http://docs.ragepluginhook.net/html/558BC34.htm

I rate it 4\5. It's really nice plugin, I guess everyone knows that. But it has some problems and I would 5\5 if they would be fixed:

    1. Opening doors, hood, trunk should have an option to NOT close doors etc after searching. For example I search in already opened door, but after searching it closes. And it isn't a problem at all, but those closing\opening animations have really strong force and can grip you, it looks weird. Also, hood always pops off when I try to search it, due to huge force.

    2. Items from trunk (medkits, weapons etc) should be availabe once per car or two if it's van or suv (fbi2, sheriff2, pranger etc). Black hole in trunk full of items isn't what I call "immersive". It's quite cheat also.

I really hope plugin isn't dead and will be improved.

    Response from the author:

This is what I love to see -- an excellent review and with very valid points as well. The mod's not dead, I assure you, but I've been working on a combined version of this and my Ped Search mod. I was hoping to have it done a lot sooner, but life got in the way and sapped my motivation completely. I've been working on it every so often, and I should be able to work on it a lot more in a week or two. Hopefully I can get it done soon, but I can't make any promises.

Thank you for the great review, Wippy!

@FtDLulz Is theres a possiblity for you that you could make the script work for the newest ragehook, since everytime i try to load the script its just crashes it straight away. :( But it is a sweet mod that i used when it worked for me!

    Response from the author:

If you could PM me your RagePluginHook.log file, I could try and help you fix it.

Great plugin. I love it :)

But can you please change something?

    • Search text "You found..." , "Searching", "Search canceled" and so on should be stored in .ini File for translation. Is that possible?

    Thank you,
    RonnyDee

    Response from the author:

Good idea, I'll try to put something like this in the next version.

A awesome mod however it no longer works, crashes every time you try to search a vehicle.

This also applies for the pedestrian search mod.

A 5/5 when it actually worked though!

    Response from the author:

Could you send me your RagePluginHook.log in a PM for me? Thanks.

The mod would be awesome for me if it would actually load when I ran RagePluginHook.

    Response from the author:

You would be awesome if you would leave a comment or send me a PM with your RagePluginHook.log instead of a review.

Definately 5 stars.  Love this mod and I use it in all my YouTube LSPDFR Episodes.  I put easter eggs in the ini.  Fun to mess with.

Love it! One of my favorite plugins for LSPDFR! Needs updating since the patch on 15th December, but it's still works with cars. Crashes when trying to search bikes, Quadbikes and the back of Vans. Hopefully will be updated soon!

Really make RP-ing fun. What is the police if he is not searching the vehicle?

Not to mention that it is fairly easy to change the settings.

I really enjoy this addon. its nice and simple yet effective. I would really like to see othre police items be added to this such as the shotgun, mp5 and maybe different things like say a cop hat or whatever.
