Welcome to Dynamic Lighting System, a full-fledged light control system that allows for in-depth control of the vehicle's lighting system.

REQUIREMENTS

OVERVIEW OF FEATURES

  • Multiple custom stages for non-ELS vehicles without taking up the vehicle's extras;
  • Fully setup and customizable siren control with configurable and add-on sirens;
  • Ability to create numerous additional features like SCAN, Blackout, Steady Burn...;
  • Easy to set up for new vehicles (without changes to the model itself or the default .meta files);
  • A lot more...

DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH DLS?

  • Read all documentation included with DLS and verify any custom XMLs you made to make sure you haven't made a mistake while editing/creating configurations.
  • If still giving errors, post it there or on my Discord Server or as an issue on the GitHub repository.

DLS IS OPEN-SOURCE!

  • DLS is and will always be an open-source project and nothing around it will be behind a paywall.
  • If you're someone with C# experience or programming experience in general and feel like contributing to DLS the help would be surely appreciated.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • DLS is not compatible with ELS as of release and there are no plans to support them.
  • All vehicle configuration is set up in an external .xml file and allows for vehicle developers to still share the vehicle as functional non-ELS vehicles with all regular features.
  • DLS is still in active development and future features are already planned.
  • Do not post questions as Reviews as I'll not be able to answer it properly that way.

    I've fully switched to non ELS vehicles after experimenting with this plugin, it's just so much better. Creating your own configs for any non ELS vehicle is easy and it is so much more stable. If you use scripts like Ultimate Backup it does not contain the issues that ELS does with AI always blasting their siren which is always nice.

    Opensource, better performance and less issues than els.   Also, unlike els, car sirens can work for both DLS and non DLS users.

    This is definitely a needed for those that patrol with non els patrol cars. Great job with this! I definitely love it and am patrolling with DLS. I highly recommend this for anyone who uses non els cars. You can even have different stages of lights like els has but without a performance impact.

    Probably a while back, I discovered some of Jacobmaate's cars and 11john11's LSPD & LSSD beauteous pack. I considered making the switch to Non-ELS, but didn't. After testing out Dynamic Lighting System, I can say that this does what it does, and that it offers a siren controller for NON-DLS VEHICLES?! You have my download, my like, all my stars. Amazing mod, guys! Keep up this work, can't wait for updates!!!

    ELS is easier to handle. There are ready-made options for the light bar, but here you need to write them yourself. Those who are poorly versed in computer science will not be able to understand at all what and how to do. The instructions that are in the archive with the modification are written in such a way that an ordinary user will not understand anything.

    It's too early to say that this is a replacement for ELS!

    Response from the author:

    Hi,

    I'll try to answer your review point by point, so this may extend a bit.

    • "ELS is easier to handle. There are ready-made options for the light bar, but here you need to write them yourself."
      YES, this might be seen as a disadvantage for the user, but in fact, it does wonders for allowing more customization and ease of use. ELS vehicles need to be set up from scratch with it in mind, so those who do not have experience with vehicle modeling and don't have access to a paid ZModeler3 license will have absolutely no way to port a vehicle they like to ELS. DLS however allows you to port any non-ELS vehicles to it and utilize whatever pattern comes to mind. Setting up a configuration file for a DLS vehicle might seem like a daunting task at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be making configurations left and right to fit how you'd like your game to look like and not only how the ELS developer wanted it to look like.

    • " The instructions that are in the archive with the modification are written in such a way that an ordinary user will not understand anything."
      I've tried to make documentation for DLS as verbose as possible, but I recognize that there are a lot of gaps remaining in the documentation and a lot of unclear sections. DLS is a continuing work, and as such expect improvements in most if not all areas of it but for those to happen all feedback regarding what needs to be changed is greatly appreciated. If you're still interested in trying to learn how to create configuration files for DLS feel free to contact me in any way you prefer (DMs, comments, private Discord Message, or on the Discord server where we have awesome and helpful members that'll be able to assist as well).

    • "It's too early to say that this is a replacement for ELS!"
      I don't personally see DLS as an ELS replacement, ELS is such a huge part of the GTA modding community I don't see anything taking it's place anytime soon. I do however believe that users should have options to choose, and not be stuck with either a mod that doesn't get updated for years or the complete lack of a siren controller.

    I appreciate your feedback and hope you decide to hop on board and learn how to setup DLS for your preferred vehicles and by doing that helping DLS improve as a whole.

    Have a great day!

    it does what its supposed to do. Only thing I wish was that you could set the keybinds like how ELS's is.

    Finally, a mod that implements powerful ELS-like functionality while still allowing modders to utilise extras for what they're actually intended for. No more seperate vehicle files for slicktop/marked variants! My smoking RAM modules thank you for your service.

    And amongst all of this, an open-source project. Thanks so much for putting this one out, TheMaybeast!

    This is exactly what I've been looking for, it has just about everything ELS has plus more. I look forward to seeing everything that comes next

    Now that I've dove in way further I'll update this
    Advantages over ELS:
    More customizable
    Lighter on Performance

    No waiting for SHV updates every little game update
    no need to run it just to have vehicles function properly

    TAs are more easily controlled
    Disadvantages:
    Not as beginner friendly, though after a little bit it gets very easy to use
    Slightly more complicated to load each session
    Not currently set in as well as ELS so there are less vehicles already setup
    It even allows siren controls without a config set up special for if you just want one stage with a good siren controller

    Just remember to read the readme everyone

    Awesome job with this.

    It is great to finally have an alternative to ELS. Now I can finally use some of the amazing non ELS vehicles like that 06 Tahoe! The wide range of customization this has brought to LSPDFR is amazing.

    I really believe this will change LSPDFR just like ELS did. It may even be better.

    Really good work keep it up.

    This is the mod we've been waiting for! Finally a full-featured alternative to ELS for non-ELS/carcols vehicles. I've been very impressed with the rapid development of DLS and the features it offers:

    • Simple and functional siren (audio) control, with ELS-equivalent keybindings
    • The script doesn't have to be running for vehicles to work, if it's unloaded their default carcols lighting still works fine
    • Very low performance impact - by not having to toggle every extra on/off constantly, it has excellent performance
    • Full customizability - rather than a preset list of patterns, you can develop any pattern you want in carcols and load it up

    The initial release is a great start, and the planned future features will bring even more to this mod. Well done!
