Common Callouts by CowNation is a small pack containing four callouts:

    1. Pursuit of Motorcycle,

    2. Domestic Disturbance,

    3. Stolen Bicycle,

    4. Traffic Collision.

I'm happy to report that this callout pack is compatible with LSPDFR 0.4.1 and appears to be bug free. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends.

Domestic Disturbance appears to be a quick scene between two individuals. Upon arriving at the location, you are automatically walked through a brief conversation between the three of you before both individuals agree to leave the area. There are no interaction options for the player, no choices to be made and the longest part of this callout is getting to the location.

Pursuit of Motorcycle is pretty self-explanatory. You are required to catch up to, pursue and ultimately stop a fleeing suspect on a motorcycle. There's nothing wrong with this callout but there's nothing special or unique about it either.

Stolen Bicycle is a callout that's been featured in several packs now. Sadly, it lacks any actual worth. Similar to the domestic disturbance call above, when you arrive on scene, you find a single individual standing next to a bicycle and... that's it. No dialogue, no choices, no interaction. There's no way for the suspect to defend themselves and there's no way of investigating ownership of the bike. Where other packs that feature this callout provide a multitude of options, in Common Callouts it is sadly more reminiscent of a stuck ped or bug rather than an actual callout.

The Traffic Collision callout was what drew me into this small pack. The description states, "Two vehicles have had a severe collision in the road! Find out who is responsible and clear the road for traffic!!" As soon as I had installed this pack, I booted up Callout Manager and started this call. Arriving at the scene - a small car park in Downtown LS -  I was greeted with a messy two-car collision. One car was upside down on its roof, while the second had sustained severe damage. I was glad to see that both drivers were standing calmly next to their vehicles. As I approached each driver however, it occurred to me that I again had no way of interacting with the peds. I didn't know who was driving which vehicle, what the circumstances leading up to the crash were or even if they required medical attention. Considering that the description of this call implies that I could "...find out who is responsible..." I figured that I must have done something wrong. I re-installed Common Callouts and tried Traffic Collision again. This time, I was taken to another two-car collision near Davis. The scene was familiar with two vehicles, one upside down on its roof, while the second had sustained severe damage. As I approached, one of the drivers jumped into the upright car and took off. Determined to be able to investigate, I called in pursuit backup and remained on scene to question the other driver. Unfortunately, I was again unable to interact with the ped.

When reading over the comments, it became clear to me that this callout pack was intentionally rushed by the author in order to be the first pack released for 0.4. While I appreciate that this pack therefore severed its purpose, I feel that the descriptions of the callouts available are very misleading! I have respect for anyone that can make a callout pack - I wouldn't even know where to start! - however this pack is boring and lacking any actual method of being able to complete the calls (with the exception of Pursuit of Motorcycle.)

Should the author ever revisit Common Callouts, I'll happily return and update this review.

    PROS:

    - Compatible with latest LSPDFR version.

    - No bugs.

    CONS:

    - Boring.

    - Feels unfinished.

    - Lacking content.

    - No real options or choices.

some sort of tl;dr at the bottom at the bottom

I am not bagging on you, or your mod. Kudos for getting something out quickly.

Being the first call out pack out for LSPDFR 0.4, and having these kinds of call outs is impressive, but I feel like this was just a race to see who could get a pack out first.

My main concerns are the level of detail within the call outs themselves, specifically the domestic disturbance ones. I only experienced this call twice, and in those times I experienced these outcomes:

    - Police were unnecessary in this call, once police were on scene and said one sentence which basically said grow up, they dispersed

    -  More importantly, one guy fled from the scene and I failed to start a pursuit by holding B and reporting it, yet a backup unit arrived anyway and assisted in the foot pursuit so I assumed that it was part of this script. It would be really nice to be able to report them and make an actual LSPDFR pursuit happen

The rest of the calls are just extensions to the stock LSPDFR call outs, being just pursuits. While pursuits are a lot more enjoyable in 0.4, there isn't much else except for arresting them.

Maybe another call out could be that the FIB or similar agency are in a tracking pursuit (following the criminal) and would like you to assist as the main policing component, to which you then have control over that pursuit using LSPDFR native functions (such as the pursuit options in the N menu), allowing the player to either turn the pursuit into a full pursuit or continue tracking the criminal to a certain location, and once the criminal is nearing said location, turn it into a full pursuit and descend all the units onto the said criminal.

TL;DR I feel that there would of been, and still is, a race to get all the call out packs and things compatible with 0.4, which according to this post, makes me think it's not going to be very difficult. Only one call out isn't a pursuit call out, and that it's self isn't very detailed. Being the first call out pack out there, I'd like to think there will be a lot more development on this, and that this release was more of a proof of concept, hey I'm here sort of thing.

    Response from the author:

Thank you for your long & detailed feedback! When on that domestic call the ped ran a pursuit was supposed to be initiated, no need to hold b. I have already fixed this and it will be in the next update to CommonCallouts! Unfortunately your last callout suggestion is not possible atm because the LSPDFR 0.4 API is extremely limited and doesn't give devs much use to the new features (E.G. Frisking system, holding B and generally getting info about ambient events).

the callouts feel unfinished, the bicycle one is just someone standing next to a bicycle, i couldn't really do anything, it is the first LSPDFR 0.4 callout plugin though, so i guess it's cool

    Response from the author:

The bicycle callout has 3 different outcomes, the ped gets off the bike and surrenders, the ped begins to flee, or the ped begins fighting you. Regardless, yes these are unfinished.. I pushed this out asap due to the lack of 0.4 compatible plugins currently.

I would rate it 4 stars due to the small amount of callouts but decided it was actually a test against time,

Awesome Job on getting this out so quickly.

    Response from the author:

Thank you! Yea, it's true that I rushed it out so that there was at least something for the people who were getting tired of the stock LSPDFR callouts. (I was too)
