Realistic Melee Mod v.3.7.0

RECOMMENDED FOR LSPDFR ONLY.

 

 

Hello, fellow LSPDFR fans. Are you sick of knocking out your prisoner every time you close out of a menu? Does your officer love to pistol whip suspects with a taser and you've simply had enough? Or maybe you've just wondered what it feels like to relentlessly beat an innocent civilian with your PR-24? With Realistic Melee, you can! This Mod makes all melee attacks less-than-lethal, or removes a weapon's melee abilities completely.

 

  • Punches and kicks no longer kill people or knock them out in one hit. You can still kill people, but it's very realistic.
  • Nightstick swings no longer subdue targets unrealistically (Have fun! :tongue:).
  • When it comes to your duty pistol and taser; they no longer have a pistol whip function!
  • This Mod also includes an add-on to allow you to utilize a non-lethal beanbag/salt shotgun setting!

 

 

This is one of my first Mod releases and is a work in progress, so criticize accordingly! I wasn't going to release this; but it worked very well for me, so I wanted to share with everyone. I am open to any suggestions, advice, or constructive criticism. ALSO, please note I am running on a low-end computer, so my screenshots look pretty terrible.

INSTALLATION:

FOR DAMAGES.META
Using Open IV, navigate to:

Grand Theft Auto V> mods > update > update.rpf > common > data > action

Locate and replace damages.meta


FOR WEAPONS.META
Using Open IV, navigate to:

Grand Theft Auto V> mods > update > update.rpf > common > data > ai

Locate and replace weapons.meta

    Hey I just installed the mod and it doesn't seem anything changed. I still take down any ped with a single hit. I followed installation instruction

    This is a fantastic mod and I'm really eager to use it after reading about it. But i saw that it modifies the weapons.meta file and i actually have modded weapons in and because of that, the weapons meta is already modified and i don't want to overwrite it. Is there anyway you could post it with JUST the modified lines in the meta files? That would be amazing and so helpful to me. It would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work though!

    This is a cool mod..I really want it because i am sick n tire of ppl been killed by my meele...BUT it is not working anymore..Any info by the author??Is he gonna update it??Thnx

    Is there any way I can edit the meta file and make it so the stun gun has an infinite stun time,  and no need to cool down.

    Is this still working? In my new game folder reinstalling the files seems to do nothing. Do you know if they were overwritten in a more recent patchday?

    So I installed this and when I bring up my weapons wheel all of my weapons disappear. Not sure why. Would you happen to know how to fix this?

    Hey there, alexgobert.

     

    It appears weapon damage and pedestrian health is an incredibly difficult thing to re-code. I am currently working on a way to define fists, feet, and nightsticks ONLY as weaker weapons, but the game seems to synchronize weapons with a different code line, which I have yet to discover. I will keep working to find a solution, but it's hard with a business to run and a family to care for. I cannot guarantee an update anytime soon, if ever.

     

    If anyone willing to assist me can step forward, there might be some hope for future fixes. For now, I recommend using this Mod in LSPDFR only, and reverting to your vanilla weapons.meta when playing SP.

I intended this mod to be more of a basis for people to do what they want with and you did just that. Anyways, glad that you found a use for it in your own gameplay and took it upon yourself to help others in the process!

    My response to Lyrad on my NoReticle mod page, just wanted to stick this here for clarification. If you, Techengage, would like to update your mod with Lyrad's edit with my NoReticle as a seperate option or something, I'd be fine with it. As in the quote, I'm not going to update it anytime soon and only intend it to be a basis for others. Cheers!

    All melee weapons are non-lethal? I'll look into that, but they still die from knives, broken bottles, etc. for me. I'll keep ya'll updated.

    Actually when i read the meta i can see this :

    Then i don't know why i kill people in 1-2 punches.

    It's working fine for me.  I don't mind all melee weapons not being lethal as I only use the nightstick in LSPDFR.  I beat someone to death with my nightstick and a hatchet and they didn't take any damage.

    For the installation guide i was talking about the conflict i had with noreticle mod. And i'll have to do that manipulation again at every update. A clear readme would more appreciated due to my noskill.

    And as i just said i am totally unskilled in dev', at least i can understand most of what the code means but i can't even write a simple line. It's just about picking a line here and replace an other there. If you find a way to improve the mod, just go ! Otherwise the mod is already good enough to worth the installation.

    I'm thinking about testing the non lethal shotgun (with it's skin) and make an exclusive video for this mod (most of the video is for the noreticle mod). Anyway i think i'm gonna wait the next update. You should really think to add a manual installation guide to your readme. At least for weapon.meta which seems to be used with a lot of mods.

    Is there not an Installation section? I swear I have one in there, plus one to explain how you need to fully replace your weapons.meta to get the non-lethal shotgun, with instructions. It's exactly like the regular Mod, except the shotgun is updated, by the way.

    As for the ped responses (getting them to pass out and wake back up without EMS, how to make them convulse/change reactions, or stopping them from falling down after ever freakin' hit..), requires editing .metas that subsequently bugged the entire game out (you would fall into the ground forever when you died, all ped melee/guns killed in one hit, peds would ignore your melee attacks completely with no damage or reaction, etc).

    I was just sick of knocking folks out with my taser on accident so, I said screw it and tried everything out I could think of for two weeks. If you or anyone you know can find a way to properly edit the other ai files without messing the game up, pllleaassee send me a PM. I'll gladly collaborate!

It should be more graduate like 2-5 punches = knock out for a few seconds, more ? Get some convulsions. More again ? Something else ?     I added the video and gave you credits. Thank you so much for the video and the honest review. I'll keep working on it and see what I can do about making the punch/kick/baton damage less temperamental. My plan is to have punches/kicks knockout in 4-12 hits (depending on the attack used), and batons in 2-7 hits. For now I feel it's 100% better than how it was, though! Let me know if there is anything else you would like changed and I'll gladly oblige. Cheers!

    If you slam someone directly on the top of the skull with a baton without them knowing, they would probably be knocked out in reality. If you connect a right hook and upper cut to a pedestrians face while they are walking down the street, they will probably be knocked out in reality. It isn't non-lethal melee, but realistic melee. I can punch, kick, and baton the crap outta people and they don't die every time. I'm sorry it isn't working for you. Make sure you replaced the proper .metas, too. There are multitudes of damages and weapons.metas.
