Dynamic Patrols allows various law enforcement, military, and DLC vehicles to spawn naturally and dynamically in their respective areas while playing GTAV SP

Law enforcement/military vehicles that spawn:

  • The sheriff stanier (sheriff1) spawns as an off-highway vehicle in Blaine County
  • The unmarked stanier (police4) on the side of highways and in the airport
  • The mounted insurgent (insurgent), unarmed insurgent (insurgent2), nightshark (nightshark), and the halftrack (halftrack) drives around the military base and spawns parked
  • The valkyrie (valkyrie), avenger (avenger), hunter (hunter), unarmed buzzard (buzzard), and savage (savage) now fly around the military base alongside the vanilla cargobob (cargobob4)
    • I changed it to cargobob4 to allow independent editing to the vehicle without interfering with mods that use the vanilla cargobob
  • The Jetsam cargobob (cargobob2) now flies along the Del Perro beach coastline along with the vanilla yellow frogger (frogger)
  • Removed the buzzard (buzzard) from spawning in the city as a police helicopter (this seemed unrealistic to me)
  • The hydra (hydra) now spawns in the military base along with the lazer (lazer)
  • The bombushka bomber plane (bombushka) and the private military jet (miljet) now spawn alongside the titan (titan) in the military base.
  • The lifeguard granger (lguard) now drives on the beach along side the vanilla lifeguard atv (blazer2)

In addition to spawning police vehicles, this mod allows various DLC vehicles to spawn in their respective areas on the road and in the sky.

In order for DLC vehicles to spawn properly, you must install: https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/mp-vehicles-in-sp

---------------------------------------

One of my favourite things about this: it's compatible with @_CP_'s IVPack! (Install IVPack before you install this!)

What's that? You don't want to use this mod because the cop cars start unrealistic police pursuits too often? Well here's a solution!!!

Some recommended vehicles to make this mod feel more realistic:

Important things:

  • Any suggestions to make this modification better is greatly appreciated in the comments. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy!
  • I cannot control the spawn frequency
    • If you wish to reduce the rapid law enforcement spawns, install IVPack and turn your variety all the way up and density all the way down.
  • Please do not upload anywhere else without express permission

Thanks to my beta testers:

What's New in Version 1.0.0

Released

V1.0.0

  • The full version is now available!
  • Re-done from scratch
  • Only the sheriff stanier spawns in the county
  • Police4 no longer spawns on the highway
@_CP_ for creating IVPack which included the files which were then edited for this

Does this have a configurable ini?

I would like to add sheriff units to patrol in the city.

It's not a script, so no. You have to add them manually. Open up the provided popgroups.ymt and travel down to the bottom where it says "veh_copcar" once there just add the vehicles that you desire in a format that matches the others. (hope that made sense. If it didn't, just PM me)

So will this essentially be an improved version of Cops: Back on the Beat?

In a way, yes. However this is to simplify and expand on the idea. Cops: Back on the Beat changes the popcycle.dat and adds unnecessary popgroups. My ultimate goal is to keep everything to the default pop groups. Also, this works with IVPack, and CBotB does not. Lastly, an issue that was never addressed with CBotB was the frequency of police on the map.

I tried this method in the past to avoid playing with the popcycle file, to mixed results. The thing is, the game engine has a hard time keeping many vehicle models in memory, even if you select the maximum variety settings (or even force higher settings by manually editing the settings file).  This is even more noticeable the more mods you use and new models you add - at some point, 1 in 10 cars in traffic may be a cop car. The other problem is that even if the ratio is a little higher and you don't see that many cop cars around you, there will still be a higher amount than usual spawning in surrounding streets, which means pursuits are now very hard to evade because in addition to the cop cars spawned by the Dispatch settings file, all the other cop cars already spawned in traffic will also respond, which means you can easily end up with a dozen or so police cars rushing you at one star.

Then again, the game engine appears to HATE the slightest modification you make to the popcycle file and punishes you with the "always the 5 same car models everywhere" bug. Even if the percentages still add up to 100 or if you swap pop groups instead of adding them, the game engine will still react adversely. So in the end you can choose between having realistic police patrols but no traffic variety whatsoever, or flimsy variety and an armada of cop cars ready to bear down on you.

The best would be if someone came up with an actual random patrol script that didn't involve the popcycle or popgroups files, which could also use custom zoning (spawns by neighborhoods, LS vs Blaine County, etc). Unfortunately, there is no such script at the moment.

Just to clarify, I made this mod with LSPDFR in mind. Not vanilla GTAV pursuits. From my testing, it works great. Especially in regards to highway patrol. The spawning ratio is not too much nor too little. Now obviously this may vary from mods, settings, systems, etc. (Sorry if I didn't fully address your concerns)

After testing on highest density, variety, and distance scaling; the only vehicle that could use some adjusting is the sheriff vehicles in Sandy Shores.

Also, there is already a script out there that let's you set up patrols, it's called LEJS... But it's a FPS muncher

Granted, with LSPDFR there wouldn't be an impact on gameplay. You do also seem to use mostly vanilla vehicles (apart from IVPack), so that might be why I encountered different results. I run a customized version of IVPack to which I've manually added the RDE police vehicles and a bunch of other stuff including my own work... Sometimes the ratio was ok, but sometimes I'd get the odd SAHP convoys on both sides of the highway. It really depends. However, getting chased in the vanilla SP experience, you WILL see your whole minimap light up with police blips as soon as you hit your first star ;)

Thanks for the heads up on LEJS, I'll give it a shot. I also hear the upcoming version of RDE might have something similar...

My bad. I mixed up two popgroups.ymt. One with and one without police4 spawning on the highways. I just updated it and it should work now.

I'm sorry to hear this. I have tested it both with mods installed and a clean GTAV slate. They spawn very rarely, but they do spawn.

Did you install both files?

Can't U make the T20 and FMJ spawn all across San Andreas?

I won't add it, as I'm trying to keep it true to how the game would have it. (Rich cars in rich cars slot)

However, if you'd like, you can go through popgroups.ymt and add it to each slot.

Ok I got it installed and police 4 is on the highway. exept for the officers on the side of the highway. there are regular civilian cars on the side of the highway, some with Police or Troopers in them and some with regular civilians in them. Any ideas?

This is a glitch that is currently being fixed. I'm redoing everything and working with my beta testers to fix a few known bugs. :)

@nixxx621 The civilian spawning issue should have been cleared up in the last update. Have you reinstalled to version 0.1.02?

@Narobic I was using the most recent version at the time. I will download again and see if issue is still present. Thanks for addressing!
