FS MS4000 Siren (Siren Mastery / 5 Tones) 1.0.0

   (2 reviews)

1 Screenshot

Here is my second upload.

The samples for this siren were pretty low so it's better if you manage to turn up your siren sounds in the General config. I'm not sure Siren Mastery supports independent volumes for the tones yet.

Anyways, as described on the Federal Signal website, this siren is good for unmarked vehicles because of its low profile. It's a much more classic siren compared to the rare Unitrol Omega 90 I released before.

Credits go to Federal Signal for the samples.

Just curious, any difference between this and the PA4000? Sounds very similar. Or is it just the case of changing/interchangeable names, like the Whelen Epsilon, CenCom Sapphire, and Gamma2?

I think it sounds like a Federal Signal PA4000 to me.

It is actually an MS4000. It's more or less a small version of the PA that was made smaller to fit unmarked units.

Siren Mastery does support independent volume per tone, set in the XML file

Hey could you tell me how to set the volume on a tone please ? I've tried asking Albo but he's a bit busy. I've followed the instructions from the vehiclesconfig file that was in the previous version, I set volume="0.40" for example but it always ends up in crashing the plugin. I tried using Vol="0.40" too and this ones doesn't crash but I don't really see a difference.

I'm guessing it has to do with the siren controller. I did not realize how similar it sounded to a PA4000 since I've never used this siren before.

0.40 is way too high. You don't really want to go higher than 0.20, and it should be <Siren1 SirenType="Primary" Volume="0.20">SIREN_NAME</Siren1>.

That's what I've ben doing and it ends up crashing the plugin unfortunatly, I've also tried with smaller numbers it does the same. I was saying 0.40 as an example, this siren doesn't need to go that high although I do have another one that needs to go over 0.40 since the sound is really low. It seems that the feature was removed.

I was thinking of using this method because siren mastery allows to turn up the volume of a siren without getting any distortion.

Hmm, weird. I'm using an older version of the mod as I haven't updated it and mine works just fine.

That might be why. The first versions had support for independent volumes, it might have been removed.

I don't see why it would have, it was a fantastic feature. It's more likely that Albo accidentally broke it when adding the new features.

It doesnt say how to install in readme

Sorry about that, I'm going to update the Readme in a few minutes.

Otherwise, you need the "Siren Mastery" Plugin, extract the siren files in the Custom Sirens folder, then use the Vehicle Config line as it is said in the readme and change MODELNAME to the name of the model you want the siren to be on.

Yes you can, just follow what's on the Siren Mastery configuration examples, it shows you how you can set the siren for more vehicles. I'm sorry I can't really help for now I'm a bit busy but I will fully rewrite the readme in a few days on all my uploads.

Should still be doable according to the example VehicleSirenSetup.xml file.

<Siren10 SirenType="Primary" Volume="0.03">BritishPrimary</Siren10>

Make sure that you capitalize Volume, I think

I've tried both and it did not work unfortunately. I think I found the issue, I can't confirm yet since I did not get time to check but apparently using commas instead of dots makes it work.

example : <Siren10 SirenType="Primary" Volume="0,15">MSWail</Siren10>

interesting. if you go to control panel, region, format, additional, decimal symbol - do you see a comma or a decimal?

I don't really have access to my computer right now but I'll keep you updated asap. Thanks a lot for helping me though, this issue has been bothering me for a while. I'd like to release a siren pack and that would save me a lot of time changing the ovolume on every single tone if I got it to work.

I just did that and I see a comma. Could this be because I'm in France ? This is very odd.

And it does work with commas, I just tested.
