Our downloads section has expanded rather rapidly recently, with the focus shifting from LCDPFR, to more general modifications. For example, we now host mods from many of the big GTA IV car modders such as Cj24 and KevinDV, and we have also seen a huge increase in the amount of people submitting their own textures and files too.

In light of this, I think that it is probably about time that we reorganised the downloads section a little, with different categories, fields and structure.

As always, we'd love to hear your ideas regarding this, and how you think that we could improve our downloads section.

categorised like one for cars then a sub section for skins and a main section for mods like the indicator mod and your Area Livery Mod

Looking for old downloads are hard to find because sometimes there not always there after awhile & player modification would be good.

Maybe someone should come up with different types of police districts. Like different states, like instead of just (NYPD), you get me. Like try (PHILADELPHIA POLICE) which would be PPD, or maybe (CINCINNATI) CPD you know? I think that would be a great idea.

Sam is asking for suggestions to reorganise the download section. This thread is not for asking skins, of which there are hundreds of them on GPM already.

Models / Textures categories etc the normal stuff. but would be nice if on things like models you were able to split a sub categories into ELS / non ELS as well.
Having exclusive mods here is fab and people like CJ and Kevin do indeed deserve their own section but one thing that really gets on my t!ts in GPM's downloads is you have to search through half a dozen author sections to see all the police cars for example.
Keep seperate author sections but if at all possible have them doubled or cross refferenced in a general section too for ease of search.

Also textures would be nice if there was a sub categorie for real life like NYPD and fictional like LCPD. though that may be going a bit too far and making things too complicated.

Main thing for me is ease of searching. I like to see a section where all in one place you can search newest to oldest entries despite authors or categories.
I don't know how this site works or whats possible but would be nice if it was up to each person just how much they filter their search.
Ideal world fpr me would be selecting models then a drop down menu asks "police ,fire, ems, other" then "els, non els". you get the idea.

One last thing, never seen it anywhere else and it might be hard to do if not impossible because of the way people upload texture packs. But I always wanted a feature where I could select a charger for example and then see all relating textures. I can see that being technically near impossible to do though :)

Different categories for for example police, ems or other mods aren't really needed I think, are there any other mods than police cars/textures at the moment?

I don't think there're much ways for making it easier for users to find what they need without having categories for each state, country or whatever and then I guess it's too much. I think, making categories for vehicles, textures and other mods is enough.

Unless I am wrong, I will have to look and try again. You can't search all downloads for just Els or non Els cars. If I recal you need to know the model name first.And pretty sure you have to search sections not the entire downloads which was my main problem with GPM. searching multiple sections / authors for what you want. I will play around with search later maybe it has been changed.

Is that any different from Community mods section. not sure I understand the difference.

hm, yes, you're right, you have to enter the name. If this would've been disabled it would work perfectly anyway ^^

Player mods =Ped Mods Is what Custo was getting at. I was thinking he meant player as in people
I have got the wrong end of the stick and missunderstood a few things the past few days. Time to stick my fingers in the electric socket again I think. Worked last time.

And yes I am all for narrowing down searches with script or player sections as long as you can still at a glance search the whole downloads for new stuff without having to go through all the sections.

I know a Player mod and a Script mod section would be good. I only suggested a Player mod section to see other peoples reskin of cops and what not. And a section for me to upload my crap. lol

How about some police vehicles parking outside of the Gold Lawyers Building? The default building everytime we go to when we press ALT+P.
Since that is basically the main HQ for when we go to work, we should modify that place to be a Police Headquarter place with some police officers inside and outside, along with vehicles parking in front and Around the building. The Gold lawyers Building as a Main Police Headquarter.

sam. i see its already "mods by user" on the side. maybe break each of those down. for ex:
-main folders: vehicle, player skins, weapons.
-subsections: vehicle texture and vehicle model folders

for "random" mods or for ones that dont fit an above catagory u can put it into a miscellaneous section.

I've re-oponed this thread so that we can get more feedback regarding the downloads section.

If you've downloaded or uploaded to it recently, it would be great if you could give us some suggestions as to how we can improve it.

I definitely think that there should be a section for vehicle models alone because I was looking for a new CVPI the other day so searched CVPI but it was just loads and loads of skins.
