My thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims, regardless of their nationality or beliefs. This tragedy affects all the people of Belgium, as we are a small nation.
Though we may be divided in structure, we are united as a people. It's heartwarming to see all the volunteers, offering aid. Taxi's are offering their services for free, blood donors are reporting in, people are offering their homes for stranded people, internet providers offering WIFI hotspots for free for communication, etc.
I myself cancelled my leave voluntarily, just like many other fellow officers.
It may be a dark day in our history, it's also a day I feel very proud to be Belgian.

Exactly. People call us and expect us to use our magic wand and solve all their problems. Responding to fights is the worst. Fifteen people fighting at a party, throwing punches and kicking, and bystanders look at me and my partner and expect us to break up the fight and arrest everyone. Waiting for backup, we get called cowards. And when we do use force to break it up, we hear them shouting "police brutality". In this day and age, policing is criticized by young and old. And on top of that, everything we do is put under a magnifying glass. For example, in my department, the simple use of pepper spray requires filling in a ten pages long paper form afterwards. This form has to be filled in twice by me AND my partner alike. It has come to the point where some colleagues are afraid to use their spray/baton, just because of all the hassle afterwards.
I still love my job and wouldn't do anything else, don't get me wrong. But there are times I wonder why we, public servants who all took an oath, are so distrusted.

    Thought I should mention this:
"A multi-agency manhunt is under way in California after police say the former Los Angeles police officer suspected in the murders of a college basketball coach and her fiancé last weekend is following through on his vow to kill police officers after he opened fire Wednesday night on three police officers, killing one.
Dorner posted an online manifesto that warned, "I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty." The first shooting Wednesday night occurred in the city of Corona and involved two LAPD officers working to provide security detail to a person named on the manifesto, police said. One officer was grazed in the head.
The LAPD's elite Metropolitan squad was sent to protect others mentioned in Dorner's manifesto, KTTV.com reported. Later, two officers on routine patrol in the neighboring city of Riverside were ambushed in their patrol car at a stop light, said Riverside Lt. Guy Toussaint. One Riverside officer died and the other was in surgery. The Riverside officers shot overnight were not actively looking for Dorner, authorities said.Police don't know where Dorner is, but think he left the area, Toussaint said. A badge and identification belonging to Dorner have been found in a San Diego airport. Police said the items were turned in to police at 2:27 a.m. Thursday but he does not know when they were found.

My sincerest condolences to family and friends of the officer killed. To be killed by a fellow officer is just appalling.
I hope this maniac can be stopped in time before he makes more victims.

Edit: Small update: Police Shoot Innocent People In Ex-Cop Manhunt
"Los Angeles police say officers guarding a target mentioned in an ex-officer’s manifesto shot and wounded two people in Torrance who were in a pickup Thursday. The shooting occurred around 5:15 a.m. when a patrol assigned to a protective detail identified a truck similar to that of the suspect’s.
Two people suffered gunshot wounds and are listed in minor and stable condition."

It's a decent build, in my opinion, you woulnd't need the SSD unless your motherboard allows for you to cache your HDD and SDD into one. Essentially, you will have to select one of those two to be your main drive (the one the Operating System goes on) what that means is when you install things, it will default to this drive, Now, for you to get the boosting startup speed, you need to have an SSD. That also means, it would be your main drive and you would have to manually move things over to the other HDD. It could be a hassle. Also, SSDs have a limited amout of writes, (it is a lot, you wont use in up in a year or two) but eventually they becaome "read only", I recently put together a $2000 build and i left the SSd out completely.  I feel that in the near future SSds will become MUCH cheaper, and also much larger. So that all looks pretty good, if I were you I'd just leave the SSD out and wait a few until they are bigger and cheaper. Just my two cents.

Hey dude, I am so sorry for your dog that it passed it away. It's really sad to hear for me to hear dogs passing away. Anyways, best advice I can give to you is to be a brave man. Along with that and yes it does help, I want you to get a balloon filled with nothing inside it, if you do have sand or something alike sand, then fill it up in there. After that, tie the balloon up and sit for five minutes thinking what you did with your dog in the past such as activities, cry if you have to just to let it out. Whilst doing that, squeeze the "balloon filled with sand" around for five minutes, whilst squeezing it, move it around like squeezing it but moving it around your palm if you know what I mean. If that helped and I swear it should help, reply back.

i lost several dogs over the years (i'm formerly a doghandler when i was with the Military Police), so i feel your pain and offer you my condolances

to answer your question, my advice, dont take a new dog, wait until you are realy sure you want a new one, otherwise you will start comparing your new dog with your old one and thats not fair as they both are different, normaly somehow your new dog wil present its self

i wish you good luck with it all

I know how you feel, my dog Max died from cancer last year and it was really hard for the first few days. Because he would always come sleep on my bed with me or at least be in my room. I just couldn't sleep comfortably with out him there for about 3 weeks. Just need to find your way to distract your self from it, go hang out with friend and try not to think about it. Luckily I still have 2 other dogs that I love very much, but there is still a vowed that can't be filled. Just need to move on and be happy with the life she had and the life she gave you. Buy a new dog when you think you are ready, but I can tell you this. I would give it a few weeks before you go buy a new dog. If you do buy a new dog please go to a humane society and get a dog from there. Not going to lie I did tear up writing this...

I don't know what I'd do without my little Digger (He digs everything, hence the name) he sleeps with us, comes in the tow truck with me, loves kids, sit's with me when I work on the car he's mine and the girlfriends baby we include him in EVERYTHING we do :).
They're just like kids, they need to be loved like them, treated no different than a child, they love us more than they love themselves, they do what they can understand to please us & make us happy cheer us up when we're sad, first ones to the door when we come home.
I don't think anyone would hold it against you to get another dog, if you have that much love, why stop sharing it?

Always remember the dog, no matter what. I know you will really miss him, and that's totally fine. Just know that everything is going to be just alright. I lost a friend recently, and he was my best friend too, and I bet you are experiencing just about the same thing. Dogs are fantastic pets and companions, I have a black lab aswell who is 12 1/2 years old. Always keep your dog in your heart and know they are watching down on you from the heaven of pets. :)

You may want to get a new pet, but it is just fine if you don't want to. What I do if I ever feel a little lonely is think about other things or listen to some music, play some video games, read a book, watch a movie, or what I like to listen to most is the sound of rain and thunder. Do something that calms you. That's the best I can really think of right now, and I hope you know your dog will always be in your heart and watching down on you from the heavens.

(I remember losing my cat too, I was quite young, so it was nerve-wrecking and very upsetting. We spent about 1 1/2 years until we got a new cat.)

Although it might seem unfortunate now to leave highschool behind, you'll gain new friends and take on new challenges in life. With age comes experience and knowledge. I'm nowhere near the man I was four years ago and honestly, I wouldn't want to go back. I for one can't wait to graduate at my university in a few weeks time after four hard years of studying. There's no doubt I'll miss the life on campus, the partying and living independantly. However, starting my police academy training is something I look forward to and wouldn't want to miss for the world. I too have lost many friends on the way but it's this dream of mine that has kept me going. I hope to make many new friends in the academy.

I'm sure there's a future you dream of as well. Always try to set goals in life and work towards achieving them. It will make your time/life far more meaningful and rewarding.
As for slowing down time, I'm afraid that's not really possible. As wmai said, time flies, especially when you're having a good time. Try to make the best out of everything and always try to follow your dreams. Too many people out there are doing jobs they hate because they dropped out of school. Remember that you'll spend most of your life working. I sure as hell want to do something I enjoy doing and take great pride in.
