Edit - I had to remove a lot of text and imagists so I could post this.

I live in Stockholm, Sweden right now. And all I can say... I went from a day with CVPI's in my everyday life to Volvo's, and it makes me sad
*I'm not working as a police officer, I'm in Swedish highschool right now*

Anyways, in Sweden we have a nationwide police Department/service, fire department & Ambulance services, BUT it's divided up into "counties" (Län in Swedish). So basically I live in Stockholm "County" (Län). In Stockholm county, we - the police department mainly use Volvo V70/XC70's, VW's, Mercedes-Benz & SAAB's.
*Sorry for the different shapes & some watermarked pictures, it's hard to find "good" ones*
    - I write we, reffering to us in Stockholm "county" (Län) and the police.

Our primary police vehicle is the Volvo V70/XC70

The SAAB 9-5 & 9-3 Aero (My favourite police car after the CVPI ofc)

The SAAB 9-3 Aero, it was never really used as a official patrol vehicle, but they do have some (Note: very few) of them.

VW - We use both the VW Passat and the VW Transporter, both as unmarked and marked vehicles.

    The VW Transporter

Mercedes-Benz - We use both the E350 as a patrol car (Marked & unmarked), the Sprinter as a transporter and the Vito as Supervisor & transport vehicle.
    The Mercedes-Benz E350 patrol vehicle

    ´

The Mercedes-Benz Vito used both as a supervisor vehicle and police transporter.

The supervisor version (Note: "Lednings fordon" - "Supervisor Vehicle" or "lead vehicle".

    The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
They're often used as "riot control vehicles" for soccer (European football) games.

    Unmarked vehicles
The Stockholm "County" police uses all kinds of unmarked vehicles, but the most common one is the XC70/V70's. They're used for everything, from detective vehicles to traffic enforcment.
The unmarked vehicles in Stockholm county uses built-in LED lights, but they also have acces to a so called "Kojak light", which is a blue LED rotorlight which they put up on the roof with help of a magnet under it.

    Piketen (SWAT)
The Swedish SWAT (Piketen in Swedish) is the police departments last resort. Eventhough the Swedish police actually have a special military-like force called Nationella Insatsstyrkan, this is often reffered to as the "last resort".
They use all kinds of cars, not just to blend in to a "everyday life" but to fit their special equipment. Therefor they use a variaty of cars.

Look at the door, it clearly says "Stockholms Län Piketen" - Translation would be - "Stockholm County SWAT"

    Chevy's
The Stockholm "County" Police Department uses quite a few of Chevy "busses" or vans. Both as SWAT vehicles, supervisor version, Stockholm Transit police & and regular transporters.

Once again, read on the door, it clearly says "Stockholms Län Tunnelbanepolisen" translaton - "Stockholm County Transit Police".

    Police officers
We have a total of 28 500 (app) police officers in all of Sweden, 6 900 of those work in Stockholm "county" (Län).

"Regular" patrol officers walking with high-visibilty vests

    Everyday police uniform

Sorry for making the post so long, but I wanted everyone to have a good "basic" knowledge about the Stockholm "County" police.

Seems I'm going to have to bump, quite a pity that the forums are dead. Anyhow, I can gladly say that I've managed to port the Golf over to GTA IV and its looking absolutely fantastic ingame. Below are some screenshots.

I'll post further updates at a later stage regarding the release date. I still have to do the brake calipers, LODs, and a few minor tweaks.

  10. Crizby liked a post in a topic by Lundy in Clans changing to GTA V?
With how IV was with mods n' all, i'd assume some clans might switch over. That being if V is a good port and doesn't have too many issues. For me, even if V is stable as can be and is an excellent port with great modding capabilities, I'm still staying away from clans and crap. I find much more enjoyment in single player or maybe with a friend or two than a big group.

I am glad I live in California; CHP bought as many of those badasses as they could the day Ford announced 2011 was the last year...gonna have vics roaming probably another decade around me :)

I'm glad we have a stockpile over here. L.A.P.D. barely retired a 97 Vic a couple years back which OriginalLight noted a picture to me, which I later found out about. At least I don't have to see the city filled with crappy Explorers for at least another 5-10 more years.

California PD's, and generally anywhere in the South, keep their vehicles much longer than we do in the East Coast. They're not exposed to road salt or as many harsh cold conditions, which generally shorten vehicle life and reliability. This is why almost 90% or more of the LAPD's vehicles are still Ford Crown Victoria's. I also imagine that they don't mind sinking new engines or transmissions in a lot of them, since they love the cars. They actually have a machine that can bend frames back into place and pretty much straighten them for any that have been in accidents. They can't do that with non-body on frame vehicles. Eventually they'll have to replace them all for liability reasons, but I imagine you'll still see some running 10 years from now.

Around here most town agencies have already replaced their CVPI's with Ford Explorers. It's pretty rare to see them now. Only the CT State Police still maintain a dominant CVPI fleet, but even now they're starting to phase in some Tauruses.

Since we are a fairly good amount of people around here who seem to be particularly interested in classic cars, I open this thread so we can discuss, post pictures and stuff of vintage law enforcement and other emergency vehicles. Hopefully this will turn into something real interesting!

I will get the ball rolling with these pictures I came across from 1976 of the arrest of some outlaw bikers by the Michigan State Patrol.

Notice the rare pushbar the MSP Plymouth has in the photos above. The only time I've seen it, most of them look like this.

Well, enjoy and feel free to contribute!

Please don't link pictures to the policecarwebsite.

Rest in peace. No words can truly express this loss.

I myself hope to become a State Trooper, but this always reminds me how dangerous the job really is, and that tragedies can happen to anyone. Evil shows no mercy. No matter how good of a person you are, how young you are, or how much potential and life you had ahead of you. Evil is blind. It doesn't matter who you are, you can't escape it.

Unfortunately my stop back at the LCPD:FR isn't under the best of circumstances. Please keep this fallen Wisconsin State Trooper and his family in your prayers. Only about 3 months out of the academy he was fatally shot while contacting a bank robbery suspect here in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Gunfire was exchanged with the suspect and Trooper Casper was fatally wounded. He was killed on his first day alone in the field.

There is a Facebook page in remembrance of him, please show support even if its just to "like" the page. The only thing I ask is that you be respectful if you post anything - https://www.facebook.com/TrooperCasper
There is also a go fund me page setup for his family if anyone is interested. Of course I'm not requesting that you donate but if you see fit its greatly appreciated. They are trying to raise $10,000 - http://www.gofundme.com/troopercasper
