Either no keys work, or the game crashes.

Hey!  I was an avid LCPDFR player, and had given up on it because of stability issues.  Bought GTA V on Steam a few weeks ago, and was delighted to see LSPDFR is strong (and looks so much better than GTA4!).  But here's the thing, I can't play.

I run the Steam version on Windows 7 Pro.

So I run the latest versions of everything since I downloaded all the plugins (and RPH) today.

GTA V runs 100% fine and no crashes whatsoever when played by itself.

Here is the problem:
I can start the game using RagePluginHook.exe and it runs - but no keys related to plugins can function.  Trainers and Skin Control work, but even the "Y" key in LSPDFR doesn't work, and I can't bring up the console either.  The binded GTA V keys for normal gameplay work fine.  It seems like no keys related to RPH-loaded plugins (or even itself, re console) get recognized.

What I tried

  • Running Steam, GTA V and Rage as administrator, one at a time, and all together.
  • Repairing and reinstalling all dependencies and frameworks
  • Going back to only LSPDFR and required dependencies
  • Disabling my antivirus, adding the whole GTA V folder as an exclusion
  • Updating graphics drivers, rebooting system
  • Reinstalling Rage
  • Installing the Microsoft programs linked in multiple topics

Unfortunately, nothing seems to work.  It seems to be two separate problems, I don't mind fixing just one, as long as I can use the game.

I'm a very tech savvy person, and I'm stumped.

What other mods I'm using

I have several scripts, but none seems to affect the problems since they occur even with the bare LSPDFR minimum.  No other mods.

I installed, separately and together, AdvancedHookV, ScripthookV and ScriptHookDotNet.  I tried TrainerV and Simple Trainer.

My system specs

Core i7 6700k, 32GB DDR4-3200, GTX 970 4G.  Rock stable system, never crashes.

My game directory

I reinstalled everything I had tried, at once, for the screenshot.  Maybe you can see the culprit.  I did try adding most things one by one though, I just shoved everything there to make it easier for you.

Hmm. The log's final message is to do with Cop Holster, maybe remove that?

Well, it doesn't crash anymore, whatever plugin I run or not - that's the good news.  Problem remains about keys of plugins not working.  What loads without RPH work fine (trainers, Skin Control), anything RPH-related gets ignored.

Oooookay.  Ran some pretty deep diagnostics, found (and fixed) the issue.

It has to do with Symless Synergy, which is a software KVM switch.  Turns out it has a nasty tendency to intercept some of the keys sent to a program via another, and not transmit them.  The solution is simply to stop the Synergy service when you play, and restart it after.

I'll leave this here in case someone runs into the same issue.

Is LSPDFR being loaded?  Try clicking the settings button (gear) right after you launch Rage.  Go to Plugins, and make sure you have LSPDFR checked off.
